This new concept is the new BMW 6 series.
I mean, it looks like it anyway.
Very showroom ready, though it's still being called a concept.
Either way, it's a good thing.
It sheds the tortured rear end of the current model.
Real different sculpting along the sides and notice the taillights, they're almost directly taken off the current Z4 so this car shouts production from many angles.
Under the hood, you'll find the BMW 35i motor.
That's the inline six with the twin-scroll turbo.
They're getting lots of use out of that.
Also, likely the 400-horsepower 4.4 twin turbo V8.
Either way, the power goes out to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic and the whole thing's made more efficient by technology.
It recaptures electricity whenever you tap the brakes.
That takes load off the alternator and saves a little bit of MPG.
There will also be automatic stop-start to shut the engine down at red lights, stop signs, or in long stops in traffic,
and restart by itself.
Should be in the US middle of 2011.
