Malaysia seeks to reverse IT brain drain

Last fall, Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin outlined several measures to create a pool of talent.
The proposed incentives included income tax exemptions on income that is earned abroad and brought back into the country within two years. In addition, all personal assets would be tax exempt, and family members born outside Malaysia--spouses and children--would be granted permanent resident status in six months.
Human Resources Minister Fong Chan Onn said all applications would be given a reply within one month of receipt.
