Some of the TVs listed in those Black Friday ads are actually pretty good deals.
This massive TV earned a very positive review from us last year, and it will enjoy a massive 36 percent discount. Unfortunately, unlike the 60-incher two slides away, it doesn't carry Walmart's in-stock guarantee.
Samsung UN65EH6000 (read review)
We reviewed a smaller member of the EH6000 series last year, pictured above, and it earned a "6" in picture quality -- decent, but not spectacular. We expect the same from this behemoth.
Runner up: Samsung UN65FH6001 (Best Buy, $999). Aside from requiring you to brave a doorbuster sale, I expect this TV to be basically the same as the UN65EH6000 above.
We called this little brother to the 70-incher earlier the best value in its class, and at this price, it's an even better buy. And yes, it comes with the in-store guarantee.
Runner up: Sharp LC-60LE450U (Best Buy, $699). I'd be surprised if it's as good as the LE650U, but it shouldn't be too much worse. I'd still pick the Vizio though, since it's a known quantity.
Local dimming helps this TV punch far above its price class, and with a 36 percent discount, its value is simply phenomenal. This is one of the few TVs worth camping out at Amazon's site.
Runner up: LG 55LN5100 (Best Buy, $499). I don't expect this LG to have a picture any better than this 2012 TV, but it's still really cheap.
Widely available now from Samsung.com and elsewhere for this new low price, the F4500 is the sole plasma TV on this list, and one of the few we didn't review this year. Geoff Morrison loved it in his review at The Wirecutter, however, and even pitted it against a 4K LCD. Guess which won?
We put this Vizio above myriad other cheaper TVs at this size for the simple fact that it's actually good. Very good, in fact, earning one of the two "7" scores in picture quality on this list. At 25 percent off today's price, it's a clear winner.
Runner up: Seiki SE50FY10 (Amazon, $229). If our review of this upstart Chinese brand's 50-inch 4K TV is any indication, the 1080p SE50FY10 is not good. But it sure is cheap.
At this size on Black Friday, to the cheapest go the spoils. I don't even know what model this is, and it kinda doesn't matter. If it produces a picture, the rest is gravy.
Runner up: Samsung UN40F5300 (widely available now for $397) Looking for a 40-inch TV that's actually good? This guy offers the same picture quality as the UN40F5000 we liked so much, plus Smart TV. And you don't have to wait until Black Friday.
I know this isn't the only sub-$100 32-inch TV on sale for Black Friday, but I'm betting it's the only one you won't have to camp out for. Don't worry about the rest. It's $98.
Runner up: Samsung UN32EH4003 (widely available now for $227) Just in case you agree with me that it's worth spending more to get a better TV, this guy offers the same picture quality as the UN32EH4000 we liked so much last year. And once again, you don't have to wait until Black Friday.
