[MUSIC]
Okay, so begining of October, you know what it means.
Techtober.
Techtober.
And we're kicking it off with your review of the GoPro.
So, it's a busy fall season of new tech gear launches.
Today GoPro launched not one but two, Actually cameras right there was the max also.
Yeah
And the hero, black.
Hero black
Right, those are the two ones and Josh, you've been putting them to the test.
Well no, I've been putting one of them to test the max doesn't quite exist yet.
Okay, so it they announced it.
Yes.
But, okay.
Yeah.
What can you tell us?
Can you break it down what we need to know about these new cameras?
What's your well I'll start with the max.
The max is a rebirth of the or a Redux of the fusion 360 camera they launched a while back.
That was more of a sort of a I wouldn't say pet project, but it was more experimental.
It was what they were trying to do.
And eventually, they took that down, that 360 camera into this 360 max, which does everything that sort of that the fusion did, which is specialize in taking It takes regular 360 video but it also allows you to take that 360 video and use both cameras to create a single 16:9 video.
So in the end, it feels more like you're doing a multi-camera shoot.>> Okay.>> And then everything else.
Is just basically improvements the Max does everything the Hero 8 Black does.
And that's what you have in your hand here [CROSSTALK]
It's smaller.
still waterproof althought it, I should say it looks bigger standing next to the Hero 7 Black which I don't have here.
But that's because instead of needing a separate frame, they built in the prongs to attach the camera to amount.
So it used to have a plastic frame that it always had to slide into.
Before that, it was a giant [UNKNOWN] that went away with the HERO5 Black.
They made it waterproof.
Now it's waterproof so I mean obviously after awhile water will get into, but
It's resistant.
Yeah I mean you can go diving with it to 10 meters so 30 feet and Now it just doesn't have that extra housing piece that frame that it needed on the outside of it.
It's easier to get to the memory cards too right?
It is, yeah, so they did away with because they put the mounting things down there.
They you can now just get into the side and this is my least favorite part of the design is this door just pops right off.
But other than that you got your battery compartment where I'm shooting.
So battery compartment and card slot and charging port with the USB.
See there Everything's right there.
And now the nicer part is that they are going to have a series of mods.
These other frames, so they did away with one frame but they're bringing back other frames.
Okay.
Why would I want other frames if you got rid of the frame?
So, they're trying to get.
Trying to make bloggers happy basically.
So they've got these new frames.
The media mod is the first one.
The basic one's called, has a shotgun mic built into it.
An HDMI output, and a 3.5 millimeter mic jack, so you can attach all of the things that you want to your vlogging.
Okay.
They're also going to have a Light Mod which is just a really nice compact light that will go into one of the cold shoes on the Media Mode.
And then it also have a small display That you can slide in.
And also so you can see exactly what you're shooting.
You can see yourself shooting.
So,it's trying to make it not only for the action enthusiast crowd, but people who are just shooting.
Yeah.
Just who are just using it as a video camera, which.
I think ,i think building in the, Like the ability to just like hook it on to anything with this without having a separate cases kind of good for people who are getting into it for the first time.
I have a father in law who was like, what do I do?
Someone give me a GoPro to buy something to attach to it.
So this is making it a little simpler probably for entry level.
Yeah.So and that's always Been a thing with GoPros is that they make some money off those accessories.
So I'm doing away with an accessories kind of like that's they're cutting into their own profits there but, it just makes it a more usable camera.
And the the thing is that you can just turn it on yourself now record And, you don't have to worry about, really having to have that frame to attach to a selfie stick or whatever.
But,
What about the actual recording itself?
What are some of the big highlights, that we have to think about if you wanna get this?
Right.
So a lot of the A lot of the features in this are simply better versions of what was in the Hero7 Black.
They had this hyper smooth image stabilization, that was really good and it still is really good, except this one's just slightly better.
It's HyperSmooth 2.0 The most impressive thing that I saw with it, is that you can basically run with the camera now, and a lot of the up and down movement that you would normally get isn't really visible.
There's a little bit there still, because the camera is moving.
But there's a boost feature that you can tap on the screen.
Hit Boost and it will take out a lot of the up and down movement.
Part of the video that we shot for the launch video is me chasing my daughters up and down the street.
I'm running with the camera and it looks perfectly smooth.
Now on an old version of the camera There's no way you'd be able to do that without it being nauseatingly bouncy.
Right.
And that makes this just an easier camera to pick up and shoot with.
All right, so availability and price?
Availability I believe it's
October 15.
Yeah, I think you can pre order now.
Yeah, absolutely.
You can pre order now.
And it's $400 just like the last one.
Now the hero seven black is still gonna be available and it should I think it's 330 now
So it's still really good camera.
And you shouldn't I mean, if you want the best GoPro, and it feels silly saying but happens every time it's like that's like the iPhone when you announce a new iPhone You're like, this is the best iPhone ever.
We should be the best iPhone ever brand new one.
So yeah, this is the best GoPro ever because it's the new one.
It's got all the new bells and whistles but they have seven black still an excellent camera.
And now cheaper, so.
We're not done yet cuz Techtober continues tomorrow.
On Wednesday, Microsoft is having a surface event, and images of the products have been leaked early.
The journalist unknown, gadget leaker, Evan Blass, has posted a series of photos to his Twitter account showing Several new surface products we're likely going to see among them is a Surface Pro seven.
A surface laptop three that's gonna come in two sizes, a 13 inch and a 15 inch screen.
And there's also an arm powered surface two and one type device.
Now it also had me curious though is the other tweets he sent out that didn't have a photo, it's simply read not pictured here.
Dual screens surface, now if you've been following the rumors, there's been talk already have a Windows 10 x that is designed for dual screens, just what's your thought when you hear dual screens I'm not quite sure they fit into my life, or anyone's life for that matter.
You've seen them in our products.
<<yeah, dual="" screens="" are="" not="" new.="" we've="" seen="" them="" here="" and="" there="" throughout="" the="" years.="">>For laptops specifically.
Yeah, and now there's- I mean there's been two recent ones, one from Azuz</yeah,> And one from HP.
How would you describe them?
The other screen is where the keyboard would go, right?
Right, so there's a screen just above the keyboard on those two systems, and it's basically, you can use them for a variety of things like, extra software controls.
It's not unlike, A larger version of the test strip on the Macs.
Right.
So, they're good for notifications.
We'll have to see.
