Twitter and YouTube trends of '10
-It's Monday December 13th.
I'm Natali Morris and it's time to get loaded.
Twitter released its Top Trends of 2010 today.
We got a sneak peek at the list last Friday and we sat down with Twitter founder, Biz Stone, to talk about it.
-The Gulf Oil Spill, FIFA World Cup, and the movie Inception were the Top 3 Trending Topics on Twitter this year, followed by the Haitian Earthquake and the infamous Bubuzela.
According to a recent study, only 8% of Americans who are online use Twitter.
Yet the number of people on Twitter has skyrocketed in the last 2 years.
-If we look at December of 2008, we had about 3 million registered accounts on Twitter, the whole service.
And December of 2010, we now have over 175 million registered accounts.
And many of those weren't done in this past year.
-With 65% of accounts being created outside of the United States, Twitter Trends reflect a
global conversation.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that Twitter had to buy more equipment to handle all of the tweets about Justin Bieber.
Turns out that was not necessarily true.
-I think we had an ongoing measurement called the Bieber Index which we were measuring like, you know, the mentions of Bieber internally but we didn't actually have any separate server or anything like that.
-Youtube also released their 2010 Trends, the most watched video of the year was the Bed Intruder Song and again, Justin Bieber's Baby video featuring Ludacris.

list at youtube-trends.blogspot.com.
Google Latitude is now available as its own iPhone App.
This is the location tracking service where you can see where your friends and family are on a map.
Google wanted this to be available on iPhone when it launched nearly 2 years ago.
But Apple was not so amenable to the idea until now.
You can find it for free in the iTunes Store.
Google is starting to filter search results by reading level.
The company added an advanced option on its search page that lets you filter results by
basic, intermediate, or advanced.
The sites were assigned reading levels with the help of teachers and of course, Google's own statistical model to come up with these rankings.
T-Mobile says that a 4G Tablet should hit their network sometime next year.
They did not say who would be the manufacturer, so it could be the iPad although not that likely.
Those are your headlines for today.
Remember, you can find links to anything we discussed here at CNET.com/loaded.
I will see you tomorrow.
I'm Natali Morris for CNET.com and you've just been loaded.
