Supreme Court protects games
It's Tuesday, June 28, 2011.
I'm Wilson Tang on CNET.com, and it's time to get loaded.
In a 7-2 vote, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the California State law restricting the sale of "violent" video games to minors was unconstitutional.
California had hoped to convince the court that violent games could be regulated because they fall under obscene exemption to the first amendment.
Associate justice
Antonin Scalia wrote for the majority, however, saying that video games deserve the same protections as film and literature.
Sony has announced details for its sleek new Vaio Z laptop.
The 13.1-inch machines come with an innovative power media duct, which comes with an external graphics processor and optical drive.
The accessory is vertical standing and connects via Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 ports.
Inside the duct, you will find an AMD Radeon HD 6650M with 1 gigabyte of RAM, which can power up to 3 additional devices via HDMI and USB.
By itself the Vaio Z is lightweight at 2.6 pounds, but packs a 2.7 gigahertz Core i7 processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, a 256 gigabyte SSD drive, and impressive 14-hour battery life.

Well, Google wants to know.
This morning, the company launched WDYL.com to experiment with a new layout that shows you precisely all the services that Google has to offer based on your query.
The new service presents a single page of relevant search results across all Google's products,
Google anything and you will find easy access to widgets with related photos, news, trends, videos, translation tools, books, and more.
PC Mag talk to the streets nationwide to determine which wireless service is the fastest in the US.
According to the site, Verizon's 4G service dominates the country when it comes to pure speed and reliability.
However, if you live in a rural region of the country without 4G access, AT&T's 3G network edges out over Verizon's on 3G service as well as T-Mobile and sprint service.
Believe it or not, T-Mobile also edges out AT&T for second highest rank service carrier.
Beloved Apple products don't usually get this treatment, but a new petition on mind is making its way that severely criticizes Apple's new professional video editing software Final Cut Pro X. It's called the Final Cut Pro X is not a professional application and it asked Apple to bring support in sale of Final Cut Studio 3. The petition asked Apple to downgrade Final Cut Pro X to iMovie status or Final Cut express status or sell the source code
to a third party to develop.
It looks like HP's new touch pad will be getting something that iPad users have been begging for a Facebook app.
Screen shots have leaked out showing the new HP touch pad running Web OS in its own Facebook application.
The app wasn't developed by Facebook, but by HP and features easy access to your news fed, messages, events, places, friends, and photos.
Those are you headlines for today.
