>> Hi I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET Reviews, and this is the Sony Handycam DCR-SR47, the standard definition camcorder that records to a large internal 60 gig hard drive, or to memory stick pro duo card. The other big draw for the SR47 is its 60X optical zoom, which is great for capturing details on the top of skyscrapers from the ground, or bird watching, or watching other subjects from far away without their knowledge. Other pluses include its 2.7-inch LCD touch screen. It makes operation very easy. And that it's extremely compact and lightweight. Unfortunately the video quality is fairly average for a standard definition camcorder. Recordings tend to be filled with digital artifacts, subjects typically have purple fringing around them, and the overall picture is very soft. Color is good though, and low light performance was better than most in its class. If you're not terribly concerned with video quality, want a reasonably priced camcorder that's easy to use, has a megazoom lens, and can fit in a large coat pocket; this Sony is worth checking out. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's a look at the Sony Handycam DCR-SR47.
