Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar has the best Atmos sound from a single box
Tv & Audio
Sennheiser you may know them as the headphones people.
Or maybe you spilt a beer or two on their microphone.
But the company has now got another note.
It's the maker of the best sound bar in the Sennheiser embryo isn't an ordinary.
Firstly it's huge.
Secondly there's no subwoofer.
Thirdly it's $2500 dollars.
But the reason it's so good.
The AMBEO is able to conjour up an eerily convincing surround sound without the need for rear speakers.
Others have tried similar approaches including Sony and Yamaha but only Synhauser has nailed it.
And if you balk at the sticker price, consider that a surround set of speakers and [INAUDIBLE] receiver can easily cost more than this.
You may have great sound, but you also have a living room full of boxes.
Connectivity is exactly what you'd expect from a Soundbar includes three HDMI inputs, an HDMI eARC output.
It has optical, stereo analog, bluetooth and onboard WiFi.
Its a tall unit at 5.3 inches high, which means it won't fit under any TVs.
Most people will need to put this on a credenza and wall mount the television Alternatively you can pay extra for the optional speaker.
The cabinet is brimming with 13 drivers including side pounded end up firing woofers, and these contribute to the great surround effect.
Whether it's Dolby Atmos soundtracks or straights around the MBO was able to fill my testing room with sound.
It's not just big sounding either.
It's able to pinpoint effects in ways only dedicated [UNKNOWN] have been able to previously.
It's a deeply impressive experience.
And with so many sound modes, you'll also find it can dial in excellent speech clarity as well.
That said, there are two things the Ambio The first is truly database, as it lacks the subwoofer.
However, it does have subwoofer outlet for adding subs.
And this really does help, but it can make the system really expensive very quickly.
The second thing it can't do is music.
It's a little brash sounding.
None of the sound modes really helped make it any more listening.
However, if you want a single sound bar that sounds as good as a dedicated surround system, the Sennheiser MPO sound bar is the one to get.
