[ Background music ] >> Jeff Bakalar: Hey what's up everybody? I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com today we're checking out the Panasonic DVDLS83. Now the LS83 is an 8.5 inch portable DVD player that offers great file format compatibility including DIVIX movie files. Unfortunately though all those files must be burned onto a disk because there's no card reader or USB reader onboard. Now the device is gonna net you around 6 hours of playback time which is among the longest between all the players we've recently tested. The screen folds in on itself so that you can hold it in your hands and watch a movie but it also prevents you from accessing certain buttons when it does so. Standard on here are the 2 head phone jacks and AV in and out ports but unfortunately picture quality is not very good at all. This is partly due to the low res LCD screen. If you're looking for better picture quality there's plenty of players out there from Sony and Toshiba that look great and are also competitively priced.
