>> Hi, I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com, today we're gonna take a First Look at the Motorola i425. This is a phone for Boost Mobile service. If you're not familiar with Boost, it's a prepaid service that's as MVNO, so that's a mobile virtual and then were copyrighted that runs off of Nextel's iDEN service. Boost isn't such a business audience. It's little of a more of a, kind of a younger audience, more of people that live in cities, things like that. The phone is a little different from its mother Boost phones we've seen because, in a sense that it doesn't just recycle a Nextel's handset and, you know, sort of make it look different. I've never seen this particular handset with Nextel before. It is kind of thin, just basic candy-bar model, really simple in design, kind of simple construction, too. Front is solid enough. Notice that though the [inaudible] moves a little oddly, you have to kind of pry this up and just flip the whole thing off. Usually, there's some sort of door, something that opens. Like a lot of those Motorola Nextel phones, the display is pretty poor resolution, kind of small, not really rich graphics, not a lot of colors, but definitely does the job. Also you see that same dedicated menu button right here that takes you into the multi page menu system, which is another Nextel hallmark. A navigation controls -- felt a little plasticky, we're a very flushed with the service of the phone so, a little hard to get used to, but you have a couple of soft keys, you have a four-way toggle with an OK button in the center -- pretty large one. Next to that toggle is raised from the surface of the phones, which is nice. You have a Boost button that will take you to the web browser, Talk and End keys and then your keypad buttons. Keypad buttons does not a lot of definition between them, and like I said, with the navigation that's a little kind of cheap plastic feeling overall. Here on the side you have a push-to-talk button, some volume controls and then you have some covered port for like the headset, your mini-USB, so it is nice that they covered that up, just to protect the phone from any dust. Overall, pretty simple, no camera, but is geared toward Boost audience. The good thing is it does have that push-to-talk, which a lot of people look for. I'm Kent German, this is Motorola i425.
