You might have heard of the Time Capsule from Apple which is the only router/NAS server combo on the market that supports Time Machine really well.
You might not have it, however, and I don't blame you because it's very expensive and doesn't perform very well.
Well, today, I have an alternative that's definitely a bang for your buck, compared to the Time Capsule, that is.
Hello, my name is Dong Ngo and this is the Wireless Space router/NAS server combo from LaCie.
Now, the Wireless Space is very similar to LaCie's Network Space 2 NAS Server with one added function--it's also a wireless server.
When compared to the Time Capsule, the Wireless Space has only one shortcoming--it doesn't support dual-band but just the single 2.4 GHz frequency.
To make up for that and more, the Wireless Space offer much faster throughput speeds and many more features than the Time Capsule.
It also supports Time Machine out of the box.
The Wireless Space is similar to the Time Capsule in regard to the amount of network ports.
The device has one WAN port and only three LAN ports.
Most wireless routers have four LAN ports.
All of these ports are gigabit, meaning they offer the speed of up to 1000 megabits per second.
If Apple's Time Capsule looks like a big and thick flat tire, the Wireless Space looks just like a big brick.
It's still good looking, however, with a sleek casing and especially the front bottom facing blue LED status light.
This light is somewhat like that of a car
as the shape of the beam gets larger the further the device is from the surface.
The Wireless Space has three USB ports, one on the front and two on the back.
These ports can be used to host printers or extra storage.
This is an important feature as you wouldn't be able to replace its internal storage.
The device comes with 1-terabyte and 2-terabyte version that costs around $220 and $320 respectively.
These are bargain prices compared to the Time Capsule.

Once again, my name is Dong Ngo and this has been the first look at the Wireless Space router/NAS server combo from LaCie.
