How awesome would it be if you never had to fumble around in your pocket or your purse for a set of keys to unlock your door and instead you relied on an app.
I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET here at CTAA 2013 in Las Vegas and I'm gonna be showing you the Kwikset Kevo electronic door lock and key.
This is a system of 2 parts.
You've got the electronic door lock that Kwikset provides and that has a whole unit in the back that controls the unlocking and
It also controls pairing with part 2 of the system and that is the app.
Now the person who is designated the owner can invite other family members to have a key.
There are active keys that can disable them.
There's also notifications and history so you can see who's come home and who's left.
The LED ring around the lock will turn green when you unlock the door.
It will turn yellow when you lock it, and it will turn red if you're denied access.
It's blue when it's thinking.
You can install the Kevo
Kwikset system starting this summer.
You'll be able to buy it for anywhere between $199 and $249 from Amazon and Home Improvement stores.
The product comes in 3 different finishes.
So this is your first look at the future of electronic doors and keys.
