Hackaball brings the iPad to the playground, Ep. 194
Hey guys.
My name is Stephen Beacham and here's what's happening this week on CNet's Crave blog.
[MUSIC]
Hackaball is a hackable toy that is used as an iPad to create and play games with your friends in the real world.
[NOISE] The ball contains a ton of technology, including LED lights, a speaker, gyroscope, accelerometer, vibration motor, rechargeable battery, memory chip, and a processor.
All housed and protected within a rubbery silicone shell, that acts as a shock absorber for all the techy guts.
The free iPad app.
>Application allows kids to easily program the ball for a variety of personalized games that the kids come up with on their own.
There's a game I made called Hit It Up and the game starts [UNKNOWN] the ball goes yellow when I tap, then I programmed it to count the hits.
That's how you make Hit Me Up.
They can record their own sound that the ball will play back.
Use the ball as an alarm clock or program it to be a disco ball.
The hackaball is currently raising funds on Kickstarter and can be yours for a pledge for $65 to $69.
We love Hackaball.
The Ferrofluid lamp is truing to bring sexy back to the world of lava lamps.
Ferrofluid is a thick oily fluid containing nanoscale magnetic particles.
When you use a magnetic to interact with a fluid suspended inside a lava lamp, you get this awesome alien look.
Effect that reminds me of Venom from Spiderman.
[NOISE]
Creator Kyle Haines is the brain behind the Ferrofluid, and is currently raising funds on Kickstarter for his Ferrofluid lamp he has named Inspiration.
For a pledge of 149 dollars you can get your very own 450 millilitre glass Ferrofluid motion lamp on Kickstarter.

I wondered what it would be like if Wes Anderson directed the X-men.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Father Drake.
Dear Mr. Drake.
As it has come to my attention that your mutant abilities have recently emerged, I am extending to you an invitation to join the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.
Here you will join our small but extremely talented student body.
So you're the new guy?
Yeah, I guess so.
[MUSIC]
I'm gonna have to get you fitted for a jumpsuit.
Like yourself, each has their own unique ability.
[MUSIC]
I can't shoot anything.
What am I supposed to do?
Could be, you could drop a lead pipe?
She got the entire video embedded in the Crave blog post.
