GameSpot's The Lobby: The biggest delayed games of 2016

[MUSIC] 2016s gonna be a great year for video games. We're all very excited about it. But what about the games that are not gonna make it? What about the games that get delayed? Games get delayed. Did you know that? Michael Hardy? Ready? I heard they do this. A lot of games from last year got delayed until this year. Yeah. Uncharted 4, remember that was gonna come out last year? Yeah, and then it was March, and now it's April. Delayed again, who knows. [UNKNOWN] people thought for a while there, might come in 2015, nope. What is it like E3, [CROSSTALK] that's gonna be a god damn disaster. And [UNKNOWN] release day, hopefully the game will be good. We just met the scale band which It looks super hush. That's gonna be delayed until 2017, probably a good thing. Yeah. All right. That'll look cool. I don't have very many reasons to buy an XBox One. No, 'cuz you don't play Forta. That's the only reason I need to. Sorry Andy. But I was actually looking forward to it. I mean, like you said, it kind of looked a little bit rough on the edges but just the concept of it, oh that's pretty cool. I mean, The whole bro thing with the dragon is kinda weird, but [LAUGH] you know. [INAUDIBLE] Someone. Yeah. He was a real Dante [UNKNOWN]. Yeah, a real Dante. That's why I think I was into it. Cuz like I'm into DMC so I was like yeah, all right. I'm kinda feeling this. You get dragon armor, turn into a Play. All right 2017. I can wait another year on XBox One. Work on it. Yeah all the dude bro that they inserted into the game they're gonna now take out over the next 12 months. That's how it works. And we also found out ReCore has been pushed back as well. In the long tradition of Keiji Inafune delaying his games. Mighty No. 9 also didn't come out in 2015. That was 2016 though, right? And they're slated- Yes. For end of 20- [CROSSTALK] Is that what they said, Christmas or Q4 or something? I think so, it's later. It's late. At this point, if they did delay it again, that would just be I wouldn't be surprised. We've seen none of that game. No. We've seen like a, what was it, a trailer? Was that even gameplay? Very brief glimpses. And you have to say as well with like [INAUDIBLE] is coming out now February 9th is the current date. And they've. I know he 's like working on these projects and maybe he's not super involved in some of them. But if one of those is getting pushed back then you gotta think it's having like a domino effect on all the other projects. So we'll see. But I want to look at the list of the other big games that are coming out. There's some kind of ones here That have either been delayed a lot or you could see it getting pushed back, and kinda gauge your guys' thoughts on whether or not we will see this stuff pushed back into 2017. First one, Quantum Break's been coming out forever. April 5, apparently, it's coming out. Do you think we're past the point where Remedy can have that thing slip again? Mike? I would think so yeah. I'd be surprised if they delayed it once more. Maybe once more but I am pretty positive we'll see it in the spring. Just because everything we've seen of it it, they've been showing us game play now at this point. It looks polished. I mean- Have you even played it? No. I played it as well. Yeah? So they have had builds out there. It is like field? Complete. Yeah. Okay. It felt like a good vertical slice, like this is done. It looks polished right now. Yeah. It looks like it's ready and I don't know that I'm terribly excited for it, but it looks like it would be able to come out in April, because how many delays have they had so far with that. Oh, god, I feel like three or four at least. Right. And I've kind of a different game cuz I had all that weird TV stuff going on when Microsoft was in the [UNKNOWN] .That's how far we're going back on this. Yeah. We're talking Don Matrick error was on there. Likes talking about it. Kind of on the other side of that, then. A game that we haven't heard a lot about that's coming out pretty close after its launch, Far Cry Primal. Currently slated for February 23rd. Eric, do you think people would mind if that got pushed back? I mean, I don't think they'd mind that much but I think that it's probably gonna make its date or something close to it. Because, you know, that data or whatever, that game play that we were able to see, I think it was at PSX as well, it looked pretty done. And there's no multiplayer, you know, component to it so It looks like it's ready to go. And February's a good month, right? There's not that much stuff happening in the first quarter of the year. Why not bring out a new Far Cry game? A lot of people like Far Cry 4, and now you can be the beast master. And it's been a while. Far Cry 4 was like November 2014. It kinda felt like it was pretty close Behind it but I guess, yeah, it's been enough time. 'Cuz everybody with that team was also like shifting onto Primal. I remember when Primal was first announced. We were wondering if it's more of a Blood Dragon situation, more just like kind of, I guess in the grand scheme of things, a bite sized kind of Far Cry, but it seems sizeable, and I actually get the Play it sometime soon, next week, I think. Oh, really. Or a preview. So, I'm eager to see it because I haven't touched it yet, I didn't get the chance to play it at PSX yet, so. Is that stuff gonna be super embargoed, probably? Yeah, probably a, I think it's a week afterward. Okay. So, soon. Check back in a fortnight. Yeah. We'll find out. Two winks if it's good, we'll do next week. Okay. So, you can do that. Eh, another one that, this is kind of a strange one because. I feel like it could really go either way, depending on not really anything to do with the game itself, but maybe the hardware. The Wii U obviously had a difficult year, last year. Had some pretty good games come out actually, for it Did start very well at all. And obviously, the departure of [UNKNOWN] is gonna be able to take a massive effect on whatever plans they had as well, and The Annex was all re-slated for, going to be announced or shown maybe this year. There's a big sort of cloud hanging over this Zelda project. We've only seen that trailer. It looks really good. It's been a while since you've seen any more of it. They were already kind of Being a little bit secretive with the information, does that weird video where it was on the TV behind them and stuff. Mike, first of all, do you think we'll see Zelda next year? Do you think it's gonna be one of these cross platform, cross generational games like, what was the GameCube one? [CROSSTALK] came out on Wii and GameCube. What do you reckon? I think it will be. They said last year, I think this is, they're going to say what this means to be a hybrid console, mobile platform. And I think they have to. If they're gonna bring out Zelda some time, it's when you're trying to pump up the NX, whenever it happens to be. Because Twilight Princess I still consider a Gamecube title. Did you say twi? It sounded like you said toilet princess, which sounds way- Toilet princess Are you about her game? Yeah. Toilet princess, I consider it a GameKeep title, but then once Skyward Story came, and it's exclusively for Wii, that was like the defining game on the Wii for me. Yes. So I'm wondering if they have to kind of sacrifice maybe just a [CROSSTALK]. Yeah, maybe, because not overall quality but I feel like it might feel a little more like a port between two consoles. I think that'd be worth it to try to push the NX, so we'll see. And I hate to say that because I'm such a big Legends of Zelda fan, but if there's anything that's gonna get me on board for the NX it's like a Zelda game. What do you thin, Doug? I think it's gonna happen. Like I've been saying it since last year. I'm like yeah, well Zelda's not coming out this year so I guess they must be pushing it for the NX, or whatever code name. Because how sure your gonna sale that console after people invested so much in the Wii, what's gonna get you to but an NX. Yeah. And the weird thing is, it sounds like the NX isn't going to, we don't know anyway. Yeah. But it sounds like it. Might not be a traditional console. So then how do you launch a game like Zelda, which is this very traditional game which you've been developing for the Wii U. Which is a relatively traditional console, if you've got this crazy concept console that's gonna have like this, Yes, you know mobile and couch versions, like dichotomy happening then you want the game that is like the big platform for that big pusher to be like basically just a Zelda game. I wonder if they'll have to go back and reinvent it as well. That's why I worry it won't make it. I guess we'll have to find out. Let us know what you think in the comments. If anything, like, December. Okay, okay I'll play it safe. A late I'm gonna lump these together because they're, like I'm crazy yeah. Yeah they're both, [UNKNOWN] games they're both Ubisoft games. Okay. And The Division Ghost Recon Wildlands Ubisoft can't possibly put out two games in one year. No. Which one do you think comes out? I don't know the date for Wildlands by the way I'm just guessing. Maybe next year. Division this year for sure some time. Even if it gets 45, I think it's been through a beta now, that not everyone got invited to. Yeah. But if you're on their forms and whatnot, you might have gotten an invite. We saw some leaked stuff, we- It's [INAUDIBLE] percent a couple times too. Yeah. Good backgrounding. Yeah, push back, yeah. But I'm pretty sure at some point, that game will come out in the Badlands probably next year cuz you can't do two in one year. Mm. All right. I agree. I would say Division has to come out this year, I mean its been delayed what, twice now? Yeah, significant delays too. And we've actually seen a lot of it. They introduced that you can **** over your team at the end but then they showed Wildlands right after that, or at least in the same press conference. Wildlands looks great. But there's no way cuz we haven't seen anything else from that if one of the [UNKNOWN] it's gonna be Division that seems like it's time for because we've been waiting for how long now? Maybe a good thing though cuz we didn't wait too long for Watch Dogs and that ended up being a big disappointment. Yeah. Couple of more ones to go through Xcom 2 that's gonna come out don't think it'll be pushed back? Past its every? No I think it's federated stance for sure. Yeah, yeah, okay. War honor? I feel like I haven't seen enough of that game. I played a bit of it. I wanna play it. I still haven't played it. It's my fault, I should have played it at PSX. There's a lot of interest cuz it's there number one game I think. Oh really. Yeah, game slot 50 it's our number one game. It looks Super interesting. Like most anticipated? Yeah. It looks super interesting. I'm kind of curious about what the, is it you pay $40 for the game, $60 for the game? Is it free to pay with a freemium model with skins and stuff like that? Who knows. It looked pretty done. What else do we need, more maps and another faction maybe? Right, because I don't think there's a single player I don't know it's just- I don't know either, it just kinda looks like a new age Chivalry but cool because I can be a samurai. Chivalry the new age samurai. Ain't no samurai [INAUDIBLE]. All right, two more I'm gonna split these up for you. All right, [UNKNOWN] Doom, is coming out this year? Yeah I can see it coming out Fall. It's the multiplayer seemed pretty polished from what I played. It felt really good too. Is that embargoed? No. I don't know about that. No it's not. Alright. This is a while ago. Good thing it's not, we'll find out. [LAUGH] And last one, Horizon Zero Dawn. Oh man, I wanted to. It keeps showing that same thing. I know it's the same like kinda T-Rex dinosaur that's just kinda killed in a slightly different way or in like. Slightly different area. Oh man. I don't think so but I think E3 will be telling. Like, maybe if the demo is actually there then maybe like Q4 but-- Yeah, especially because it's like a second PartyCon thing as well because it's guerilla and I feel like somebody always give them time so We'll have to wait and see, thank you gentlemen for letting us know what you think is gonna be delayed, and what we already know is delayed in 2016, let us know what you think, you think, you think is gonna be delayed in the comments below.
