Welcome to the few that stayed here SPF 2000 -- its January 13 2000 and well.
-- -- --
The and -- head.
I feel your way that you hear that -- that's -- Alaska. And we -- that ambulance.
And it all that you.
The class -- and we're back we're back baby.
Yeah Naylor were alive -- -- alchemy product all of them for the and I think probably everybody is thicker that.
I think that the -- out of the that are out of backstage completely ad network. And how the data down -- -- you guys have a good -- so far.
And that I haven't made these that many people here on the last day to opt them absolutely gutting of our regular chat room at the air day in your back -- -- -- -- beefy guys coming out there though.
We talk about what's happened now -- days its obviously and it you know there's yet though yesterday -- are being.
-- -- -- -- because about the best of the year award we are the official awards program -- -- --
And -- that yet but I days.
People work though I.
Yesterday that -- if you were here in the -- privately with. -- -- -- and and like him up off the.
It is it is you know it's bigger than the authors here at the yes it is and Indies are -- you know -- -- these are the awards.
The official words all these vendors and people are coming out here to showcase the product something like over.
Individual companies came out the CES that you're to showcase their goods.
And from that list -- categories -- we have total about 1111 categories those are the final winners.
A CES and now we talk about who has the best of show how to get to that.
LG's 55 inch led display TVs were a huge theme here -- a lot of people you know my friends at home to like really.
A TV but I think all of you that are here in this room that it had a chance to see these -- TVs are all -- -- that was the best of show.
And I think that it's really interesting because -- -- that Samsung you know -- -- -- -- -- a -- behind the -- into -- -- -- because.
Obviously Samsung also has a stunning 55 -- now -- media honestly there haven't battle of the world's biggest Ole DB.
I think what what.
What pushed algae -- -- and is the fact that the big thing for editors.
The fact that LG plans to ship -- TV this year.
That's almost always comes down to read and margin like that -- -- is the thing that's gonna make it different because we -- -- -- we come here to revel in the amazing new technology but at the end of today.
We are trying to help you make the right thing and we're very practical site you know we don't want to sit here and talk about TVs that are gonna mean.
Where practical -- -- that we awarded what will probably be an eight to 101000 dollar TV here.
Well up but it would come out -- you have that extend and.
You totally -- that -- and a lot of times free for those -- that are here haven't been here we see so many products and sometimes we see some amazing things.
That never come out and it's always the biggest disappointment.
When you give a product in a -- that you just never and -- that year where media takes a year plus for the finally hit markets though.
That's one of the criteria that we have to use the new consider that the TV -- best -- show but by far.
-- less than four millimeters.
Or -- make it it's just stunning it apps listening and hope that everybody gets cancer at least he went in the store -- here at the us a look at it I he.
Year that. Voting.
That there was little there was kind of a little up -- of the other kind of possibility for best of show was simple TV which was the the device that one in -- home theater category having nothing.
But I'm but there was -- push for them because it is.
Potentially like button next thing -- the little client that makes it easy for you to cut the cord it's sort of -- but DVR.
Without a built in -- -- video output it lets you supplier on hard drive you and then you can stream either recorded or live TV the live TV streaming -- acting like a five dollar month subscription.
But it pulls locally broadcast over the air stuff.
And it's at -- outside every you can stream your live and recorded -- your TV outside your network -- slingbox style it's like your personal cloud for over the air TV.
Also the war that really.
Maybe some people -- matters the most.
Was the people's choice award.
This time we had a returning later from RAZR last year they had their gaming laptop if -- they brought their project Fiona and now we don't know what it's gonna come to market yet but this was a tablet.
That integrated to kind of controller handles on it and would allow you to play PC -- games.
Directly on a tablet device that -- let all of our viewers here at CNET and all the readers and -- chose as the best people's choice award.
It out the -- -- and it out.
We -- all about like a product that's getting out there like that but really you know that it -- one -- the late last year and I know I've -- acknowledge them money and making incredible on that.
The higher end up in as swiftly -- knock them on. The market in the the -- tablet. Like a lot.
-- definitely so we also wanna kind of just briefly go over some of the other winners for those few that -- here in car tech Q -- X -- mobile apps platform.
Amazing stuff but that we're taking all these not and that's the ability to think -- your Bluetooth devices really easily.
Also full all the high definition audio integrated into the system as well for voice calls we all know like we all want to use our phones our cars.
On the even with you know Bluetooth -- that's but the audio quality nine times out of ten.
The panel had to use pretty crappy -- great -- this is one of those solutions that -- hopes to -- simpler elements and.
Our app platform cues that allowed developers write HTML five apps are in our youth with I think it's the Annan to navigate you know -- -- all.
And it will make I mean.
The biggest problem auto makers have is that it -- really they're working -- old technology a lot of -- that takes a long time for them update their current system.
Get -- -- get their their production cycles -- salon if this is the kind of like a platform that is being currently operating system for cars like you don't -- Microsoft anymore.
And if you are thinking to -- I've heard that -- -- the bar.
That -- -- -- method of the Blackberry got though.
-- -- -- --
And it again do it some room which is -- good -- -- -- so I admire and category key no surprise here actually that.
The coolest phone.
Here you're not felt like it was announced here because there's so many rumors at a time but it was announced it -- 900.
The Windows Phone to beat the overcoming about what the NASA -- -- yet until Smartphone.
Also cameras -- other Fuji film X pro line in emerging tech a huge theme here the 3-D printers maker -- and an acute.
Cuba's -- -- the 3-D -- system they were going neck and neck.
But maker -- replicate -- came on top for the three deepening kind of phenomenon that we started to really emerge here at CES and who can attract that and see how that translates over to -- the home consumer but a lot of people here you have a chance in the central hall there -- a 3-D at home kind of area and you can check out what they're -- you know just some awesome stuff.
Other emerging tech category and -- -- gonna ships have been 660000 dollars you can totally -- in your odds in print your own.
I don't mean this stuff up and supplement. Simple feel like I mentioned in the home theater department and PC is the HP envy fourteen Specter of the methods now.
Yeah -- that the rest of the the -- itself dismayed that the hot device.
But it's a little worrisome if you drop it because it's called covered in a gorilla glass -- Mathew I'm going to -- this this one is actually covered in the still the original gorilla glass into the app -- gorilla -- Q is on its landing showed a demo that.
But on it it looks amazing probably scratches in the drop resistant.
Probably not as much.
-- yet to well you know but no laptop is -- yeah but -- -- much better your lifestyle terrifying minutes after the light note sent laptop it'll -- that -- us -- center alone management and beautiful.
And software and apps -- blues -- for windows eight which lets you run amber -- apps.
On windows eight with the cool thing I like it in tablet if these mammoth 370 he got her epic authentic about.
Which is totally reliant -- -- we're developing Android tablets come out like to keep it --
Ten point one was -- wrong contender in that category of the thinnest wine beautiful as it -- activity in storage.
But it's over -- -- -- in thirty predicting eight and nine her 32 -- and if your hair with 250 dollars and pretty similar pack. It in -- your audience.
And then networking to surround things up we have the HD media router supporting USB three point 04 different unit.
Mega bits per second data as well as the ability to -- CES award winners.
One thing that that we kind of wanna talk about is things that here at CS we were disappointed you know things that.
We were hoping to -- your enemy down that does that and maybe take off and I assaults are up kick things off.
We always everyone knows you know the and I was actually really -- because Qualcomm on they are in that Booth right over there but.
They showed off last year color. LED screen.
And so our LCD screen and so what Qualcomm has -- mirrors all the color ink they for the next generation of it but it hasn't and not a back like an -- life.
But either way it is a lighted glowing surface.
It's not true color -- they were really the one hole to champion of technology and know.
There's no there's nothing else out there so I I don't know I don't wanna say it's dead but it looks like the idea of color ink is --
That was kind of disappointing.
Yeah I -- I hope it's not that you think about being about you know to be able to view magazine subscriptions that are. LCD thing really is.
It seems like that's gonna become the future that a lot of people do have problems reading -- I don't like it and so I'm I'm with the action announced by Apple with nah I don't think I -- it.
Or someone else does that because -- their demo looked like real -- color and I talked news directors that will that was like -- demo and sold.
Among the selling it back then you know that you know up.
I never did it I.
We've got out of on the show and we get back and I'm gonna talk about that maybe this is just unbelievably difficult engineering talent in an item targeted.
Buy it from my perspective I gotta say I was a little bit disappointed in -- ultra books -- not.
They all look beautiful we got you know it's our laptop talk show with Dan Ackerman and Scott Stein it's not like these laptops are gorgeous right -- the -- but.
-- the form factor all of that is really beautiful I was very surprised. That they're not as bait.
-- I thought they would be at this show and that so many of the features.
That Intel wants to happen if Microsoft wants to happen are coming ways you later and that ultimately be suffering from mission creep.
Right they're not talking about eleven and thirteen inch laptops like the MacBook air and now it's like the fifteen inch Samsung series nine is also -- --
Now -- I was little and it's -- -- the definition is starting to wonder I mean.
That can happen when -- the documents note -- we invented out of the -- of Intel. But it.
That whole category feels very -- -- and then meanwhile.
There MacBook Air that kind of like it they I think they have a little more catching up to -- than I would have expected an even more does not disappoint but.
We possibly filter books -- no Sheen in -- copying the Apple MacBook air and it's like -- -- at least throw media little few different design elements that are at.
You know I -- I directory I could --
Yet that it was.
He looked exactly like eight million I don't know that -- it is it is pretty but it just be a little different and they're definitely worth I mean I think legacies go to the road legal vehicle inspectors -- interesting.
The IdeaPad --
Not -- find out and security of convertible tablet style laptop thing I've seen now is just.
It looks totally usable it stands up in a much different configurations -- Mary.
It's very cool I think though the ultimate do you have like it and I'm -- -- you know if those.
Really thin and light laptop with windows eight are coming out with touch screen.
Before Apple does have in laptops. I think that's going to be -- units in we are surprised. At -- -- an affiliate at the -- there was more fun.
Yet you know we've been littered with phones and -- the s.'s and I think maybe part of that.
As -- and I think it out as the fact that now.
We get up we get almost -- Q phones every month now during the course of the year -- it -- -- -- -- -- it's really changed -- CES has delivered phones and how companies are doing it where it was a swarm.
Now you -- just hammered -- like when he phones -- like any of these could be pretty legit -- -- -- if you're filming like.
-- -- -- --
The other and there's one -- I'm pretty excited about with other. Motorola Droid Mac yeah and --
Which is done in totally all about long battery life.
And and Samsung. Is promising. All day battery life on all of their -- -- because that's just a huge.
That's like -- why haven't you pick this thing right battery life in general that's a big selling point for -- -- and -- smaller lighter laptops and so it's great to hear.
Mobile -- -- manufacturers directly talking about.
Battery life and even then introducing phone like the parallels does but it -- lasts all day you know now.
-- the promising trend.
Are you wanting a little breather and -- with a scanner -- -- -- story.
You yeah actually one -- -- point before we go on phone the day on the opinion and I don't they already have a shipping -- that rumored to be coming out on March 18.
-- film -- wallet ready and with that we'll take a little break when we come back we're gonna talk about the diet live -- -- that there's any audience they've not been totally non fans at CES break out.
Welcome back by about out live yesterday it is our last day at -- you know it's our -- every -- really think about -- excited -- -- -- -- year.
There are still people lining -- I actually.
I take this opportunity high speed of Britain -- north -- the morning.
Quietly giving era aren't exactly.
But I had not gotten connect an acute when they have connected active -- -- and I'll be like.
All -- makers and cars tied it out and out.
Audi is its -- is beautiful there -- it looks -- Apple Store.
There is gorgeous and there replicate our hero you know.
That thing that I discovered the coolest thing that inadequately totally. Like a camera crew and right now for the geeks but did you know and there are only using it -- -- not doing it off at Detroit is that right out of -- happening right now but that there's going to happen it can't.
If they're new at that places them.
It -- patently obvious that the driver and a lot of my Mercedes unit that -- the drivers that he can navigate and the apartment -- mean that having them -- from the road.
And they also have -- Green -- the passenger and driver -- this all hot news out and Frankfurt.
But now I have a passenger only advantages.
Way that if you're bringing to you can bring a lot media content into your Audi a -- you know connection be here at the card.
Your passenger could potentially be watching him via ads that display all the drivers --
You know that navigating lately but the cool part is that they happen.
Minority report yesterday. That display ain't going on and not notice that -- ethnic conflicts on that middle screen right -- -- you have them on Internet data and icon that were passing by the blog right now.
There here's the restaurant for anything.
The driver and I like looking -- -- it.
An image that comes up in the middle means that if you.
And -- over the passenger of the passenger -- read couple restaurant reviews lots of little you know and I'm like -- other.
And kick it back to the middle screen and navigate for the driver and what I ain't and that's okay Nicholas take up like when it's -- -- out -- like.
-- you -- the future but I'm gonna but it is.
Super cool and they talked about how.
You -- view video conferencing -- can imagine right hand tightly of people in the car lot working.
You can only be happening a video conference passengers died on the drivers -- might feel admittedly. There's an. Ankle.
I mean you need your -- filter I think really it.
Google -- out there -- it hopefully it and then Google Maps integrated. And I think that is used to it has not kept up.
With is that you know -- added at the that packet inspected it is really lately and real active rightly I think killing -- it out.
Like that the -- -- Yet.
-- another thing that happened at -- now.
Apple -- about -- and -- into being after Eric Schmidt insisted to me personally that different than a feature.
Not a bug and if not fragmentation in Android.
Google quietly released a new. Ice cream -- style guide for device and -- and developers yet according to the Android.
Developer blog -- this is a place where developers can learn about the principles the building blocks in the patterns country and world class.
Android user interfaces for the fall you we've I didn't it's -- you know -- I think did they can throw this out there in.
We'll see how consumers respond but man we know away.
Companies have done with Android yet whether they're style guidelines or not. We know the fun stuff Verizon likes to put on their phones -- I can't land.
You love that.
The guidelines are completely optional Google's making it clear that the recommendations are optional. But if -- an app that are built outside -- -- and a it definitely.
They argue that they want them to view more standardized you know I'd -- that direction and I mean that if I was up to me out of many -- I.
I would love if every many factors that stock and -- -- -- them option.
But I like that there's things in option but -- we suggest -- optimal experience. And then hopefully consumers. Can help drive.
With our dollars you know that the choice I think I'll want -- little thing out the -- -- Verizon adequately.
-- with a written with the responsibly Samsung you know the galaxy nexus.
We've seen how that's going to be a pure Android experience now.
That's gonna help give -- based on how it does -- a phone to other companies that maybe we should.
They're gonna decide from seeing how that how people react that maybe we should kind of all these islands -- little more because that's what we've walked right and so hopefully that -- now because.
And I like HTC's sense -- actually like the law personally but then there's other companies that is butcher butcher itself.
And I you know I always I mean one thing I was thinking -- that was sometimes -- find that -- it is running on a device.
When it comes out you know that's our it's just out there and there will always -- manufacturers to do whatever they want to modify and some way to make it run on a refrigerator or.
Patent you know whatever that fine but I think when you're talking about major.
Manufacturers selling with major carriers it does it's a benefit to everyone.
It's getting you know especially as Windows Phone I think it's gonna start to make a strong presence in even in those retail stores.
It's a lot easier if all -- Android phones look and feel the same therapy so that that the buyers not -- -- -- mean like home.
This one does this now but they say they're on Android I'm confused and you know -- -- -- computing you know many of them marked up.
Now -- the -- -- up here at CES and if you guys.
Had been it hasn't been watching -- listener paid attention to monsters keynote.
There was no mention of the of the -- franchise and this is because monster in the beats headphones that have taken.
Over 50% market share of the entire phone headphone market -- they're breaking up because according to report.
They had they had trouble they had a problem with figuring out really who is deserving of more credit for the success. Of both companies.
Two again to companies that -- together and and decided to take over 53%. Of the market. They couldn't figure that out and other breaking up and -- in the separately.
They haven't irreconcilable. Views.
Over who's more over losing that Yahoo! is more than a -- you -- really does Begin to sit there raking the money you -- he added -- -- like.
Think this is what happens when -- happy that many egos involved it -- toll from monster in me I've tying together its.
There there gigantic ego you're gonna need it but that said each of them are has a new --
They've -- moved on we know the HP -- have been Idaho -- upon aside for quite awhile now.
They say they're gonna be very happy together beats audio is on manna and -- Specter.
And that -- is talking about -- there but it amplitude OJ like park you know designer diesel.
The media also comment I think.
Alternate lady on the -- -- and --
Although also. Owns a majority stake in the in beats.
Even resident syllables feed the -- name at least live on -- other electronic devices it's not like it's just Dre and Jimmy -- you know I mean just.
They how support from the technology markets though because -- gonna go away it's that we're not gonna -- -- and -- together.
But if they.
That's -- it's that we are the holiday at the same time.
Those headphones look hot but they sound.
Horrible maybe the debate is over saturated quality and I'll on the -- -- the love hip hop but it.
For me it's a new Q have you on the base -- if -- if you've heard an anathema but other headphones.
They all and that the slogan that they've always been it is the best.
Highest quality pure sounding headphones that you can have and it's --
Anything further from the truth -- all Baltimore and but I think I like yeah I'm not -- I'm not an audio file by any means but anyone who's been able to match them up.
Will you -- for the balance.
In the audience in mind up and bases where they they put on via via the -- and like. It or hate. It that's.
All BS news that we have three guys I hope you all it sounds that came -- live audience speaker at -- we got stickers that you guys plateaued and that you know.
We're gonna give you more speakers. And out how to I --
Back to them go we will have our regular episode coming -- you on Earth Day back -- studios and the other well known.
Was -- back to reality back and no longer state of the -- back to back nights thinking.
I -- an active Cisco and -- slate of programming coming up on fountain of the things they haven't had that coming up Eric Franklin.
I think it is an -- like that it's worth spending in this I would really like.
Hi guys they've become an out -- -- added.
