>> Hi. I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET Reviews, and through is the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS. The A-series cameras are designed to be an easy and fun way to capture a great photo. I can confirm that the A2100 is an easy-to-use camera and does take very good pictures. And I guess it's fun, but that really all depends on the user. It's a sub $250.00, 12-megapixel camera, the 6X optical zoom with image stabilization, which could be considered fun, has three auto modes, including Canon's scene-recognizing smart auto, as well as a list of scene-shooting options. That's sort of fun. On back is a large three-inch LCD and a bunch of buttons. Overall, the controls and menus are simple and easy to navigate, so that doesn't make it not fun. However, what does make it not fun is its mixed performance. Shutter lag is a bit long, even when the lighting is good, and while it's two-second shot-to-shot time is decent, turning on the flash bumps that wait time up to nearly seven-seconds. And waiting is rarely fun at all. On the upside, the results are worth waiting for as the A2100 delivers photos with great color and detail, and that's pretty fun.
