Apple Updates 13- and 15-Inch MacBook Air With M3 Chips
Speaker 1: If you were holding off on updating your 13 or 15 inch MacBook Air until Apple updated them with its M three chips, your weight is over. Both sizes can now be ordered with the company's latest chips introduced in late 2023 when the MacBook Pros and iMac were updated.
Speaker 1: The M three chips that are available in the iMac are what's available here in the airs. The base 13 inch M three air has an eight core CPU [00:00:30] eight core GPU eight gigs of memory and a 256 gig SSD for 1090 $9 For $1,299, you can bump up to an M three with a 10 core GPU and double the storage to 512 gigs. Both chip versions have a 16 core neural engine to accelerate AI and machine learning tasks. And also the 15 inch air, which starts at $1,299 only has the more [00:01:00] powerful M three. The designs themselves are unchanged from their M two versions. The 13 inch was fully updated in the middle of 2022 and the 15 inch was introduced in the middle of 2023. The colors are the same as before, too midnight, Starlight silver and space gray, and the midnight finish has an anodization seal to reduce fingerprints.
Speaker 1: The 10 80 P FaceTime camera, the MagSafe three charging the dual USB four [00:01:30] ports magic keyboard with touch ID and the forced touch track pad. They're all the same. Also along with the M three chips. The biggest new additions are a wifi upgrade from six to six E and native support for up to two external displays with the laptop lid closed. And if you're looking for big differences between the 13 and 15 inch models, there really aren't any, aside from the obvious size difference and the base M three chip on [00:02:00] the 15 inch, having a 10 core GPU, there's also a speaker difference. The 13 inch has a four speaker sound system while the 15 inch has a six speaker sound system with force canceling woos. But that's pretty much it. Taking over the new entry level spot in the air lineup is the 13 inch M two MacBook Air, which means the 2020 M1 MacBook Air is officially done. So pour one out for it. Apple says the [00:02:30] M three MacBook air is up to 60% faster than that M1 model, so maybe it's for the best that it's gone. Also gone from the lineup is the 15 inch M two air, so you might want to look for deals on those. So what do you think? Were you hoping for other changes to the line or just excited for the potential performance bump? Let me know in the comments and thanks for watching.
