Apple pushes back on child abuse scanning concerns, NASA to test living on Mars
Speaker 1: This is seen it. And here are the stories that matter right now, apple made waves. Last week when the company announced it would be adding a feature in its software that can scan photos stored in someone's iCloud account. The reason to see if there are any child sex abuse images on Monday, apple published a six page.to answer questions. And the company pushes back on privacy critics. Apple insists that the company will not expand this photo scanning ability for broad government [00:00:30] surveillance. When a photo is uploaded to iCloud, the system compares the data of that image to a database of known sex abuse images from child safety organizations. If it, for lines, a match, apple says it conducts a human review of the image before making a report to the national center for missing and exploited children. In other news, members of the us military will be required to get a COVID 19 vaccine by September 15th.
Speaker 1: It could be even sooner. If a vaccine gets full [00:01:00] approval from the FDA, the decision comes just over a week after president Joe Biden asked the department of defense to develop a plan for requiring COVID 19 vaccinations for troops. And if you want to experience life on Mars without actually going to Mars well, here's your chance. NASA is recruiting explorers for a year long, similar Mars mission on earth. There will be three separate year long missions, and in each mission, four crew members will be cooped [00:01:30] up together in a 1,700 square foot habitat doing various tests, stay up to date with the latest by visiting CNET.
