Apple is adding a little Texture to its company, literally.
The Netflix of magazine subscriptions has been acquired by Apple.
It looks like this move could be the way Apple plans to combat disinformation online.
In Apple's official statement about the purchase, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddie Cue Spoke about the deal stating, quote, we are committed to quality journalism from trusted sources.
And allowing magazines to keep producing beautifully designed and engaging stories for users, unquote.
Texture is a one-stop subscription app where users pay a single monthly fee to access hundreds of magazines.
It's also available on Android and Windows 10 Raising the question of whether Apple will continue to support those platforms going forward or spin them down and lock Texture into Apple's ecosystem exclusively.
Apple did not disclose how it would handle the transition.
Or how much the deal was worth.
If you're a Texture subscriber, how did you feel about the purchase?
Good?
Bad?
Indifferent?
Leave your thoughts in the comments.
We'll be keeping an eye in the future of Texture and how it's incorporated in the Apple software on CNET.com.
