Apple will soon have more competition in the luxury smartwatch world.
TAG Heuer, the 155-year-old Swiss watchmaker, announced a partnership with Intel and Google.
To create a smart watch with Android Wear.
But Tag didn't share the price or what it'll look like.
More details will be revealed in the fourth quarter when it's expected to go on sale.
Industry sources have told Reuters that the.
Digital watch will be modeled after one of its first designs, the original Carrera.
But this also means it's a Swiss watch that is not entirely made in Switzerland.
Just the outside design will be Swiss-made, not the computer inside.
Tag made the announcement at Baselworld.
It's a conference in Switzerland for watchmakers and jewelers and there were a few other smart watch announcements from other brands.
Gucci announced it's partnering with musician, Will.i.am, on a luxury smartband, which is just like a smart watch but Will.i.am wants to call it a band to make it more of a fashion accessory.
You may remember last year he showed off a smart cuff.
Called the pulse, with its own voice assistant called Anita, that you call out to for commands as in, Anita reminder, Anita make a call.
Yeah, you get it.
Well now Gucci will design the next version.
Of this and although we don't know what form it will take, the artist showed off a prototype on stage.
It's gonna work without needing to be paired with a phone.
So it has its own 3G connection along with a front facing camera and GPS.
It's not the only luxury cuff.
Intel worked with design brand opening their to create the MICA bracelet.
It has its own wireless service and it costs $500.
Not all new smart watches have screens, the newly announced Frederique Constant for a logical smartwatch.
Has a normal watch face but inside its tracking steps and your sleep and sending that data to your Android of iPhone.
It starts at around $1,000.
And not all high tech fashion belongs on the wrist.
