2022 Kia Carnival is the Fastest Van on the Track Yet
Cars
Speaker 1: The more sharp. I of, you may notice I'm carrying a crash on it. I'm at a racetrack and I'm also standing next to a 20, 22 Kia carnival minivan. I didn't just get out of one of the cars we've been testing on track. We are ready to test the key carnival on track and to say I'm no of us is an understatement. This is going to be interesting.
Speaker 2: This is loud. As far as tires anyway, coming [00:00:30] out onto the straightaway, you could just hear the thing screaming over a hundred miles an hour. This is getting exciting. 107 on the clock on the brakes. That 12.8 inch ROS are doing their best to slow this 4,600 pound vehicle down. Look at the sidewalk. Gosh, Continentals are well. They're just getting a really good workout here down to turn two. We've still got breaks. This is good. 121 inch wheel base for this vehicle [00:01:00] actually makes it very, you can try. I'm trying to get it to slide through all the corners. Even the fast corners. Listen to that. Motor V 6, 290 horsepower, 267 pounds. Feet of talk is coming out the corners really well through turn five here a hundred miles an hour in and we are holding over 80 mile is an hour fantastic. Still got breaks. Yeah. Good. Excellent. Oh, well, [00:01:30] there you go. We have breaks. We have tire scrub. We have all kinds of stuff coming out of there, but it's holding on. It's holding. It's doing well. This is fun. I'm having fun. There's a huge grin on my face.
Speaker 2: Look rollover. And we did increase the tire pressures just in case people are watching. Wondering about that. What are we gonna get now over 80 miles an hour into turn 10. And this is like major tire scrub coming in here. Look at this. Oh dear road, dear. [00:02:00] Oh, good grief. I don't think this would be, uh, uh, an Enduro, but we're doing well. Brakes are still holding on. This is something I am, uh, you know, feeling out as we go, but we have good brake paddle, good brake paddle. This ki is doing great. Now, here we go.
Speaker 2: Little concern about tire roll over, going through 15 at some in same speed. Uh, yeah. Okay. A hundred miles hour, three 15. Uh, I think I need to go and see somebody [00:02:30] who can give me some therapy coming in. Got 17. We've got yeah. Over the curb. Oh, oh, suspension, excellent suspension over the curbs there. You barely feel it. Cuz of the weight. Really a speed automatic. Uh, I'm not shifting, I'm letting it do the shifting. So it's doing a bit of down shifting. It's not a, on a PDK, is it? It's doing great down. End of 20. Oh the compression at the bottom of 20. If we had real hubs, there would be wheel hubs flying [00:03:00] all over the racetrack. But uh, those, uh, yeah, we're not quite scraping the wheel there and here we go. It's almost over as they say coming out of 23. Fantastic. Excellent. On the apex. Let me get turned in. I was able to slide this thing. Arounds sounds great. Pauses. Well, two minutes, 45.69. I'm gonna collect a lot of money. The guys were all thinking three minutes. [00:03:30] I was like, nah. All right. Good stuff. Excellent. Well done here. Well done.
