>> The Ford Verve concept would put Ford in the same arena as the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit, but with a car much less embarrassing to be seen in than either of those. The Verve would seem to portray a certain substance that this kind of car tends to lack. The interior they say was designed to have the same industrial language as a cell phone, with controls laid out in a way that would innately appeal to people who grew up in a world that always had cell phones. Outside check out the panoramic glass roof, pillarless side glass, LED lights front and rear. What we don't know and can't see is the Verve's powertrain, but this is considered a world car, so the question begs does the US figure into that vision of the world? Well this is the kind of Ford that should be showing up in US showrooms, but I have that sinking feeling we'll keep getting small Fords in the US that look like the Focus.

We'll see. The derivation of this car for the US market will debut at Detroit in January, oh eight.
