So is it just me or is everyone off-roading these days?
We'll ford is getting in on the trend with the new Explorer Timberline.
This is a three row SUV with a little bit more dirt [UNKNOWN] that is designed to give you and your family just a little bit further afield.
Now don't get your hopes up that this is some kind of rock master because it's not.
I mean sure there's four wheel drive, but there isn't any kind of a low gear and there are no lockers to be seen.
Instead what you get is an increased ride height to 8.7 inches and approach angle of 23.5 degrees and a departure angle of 23.7 degrees.
Now that's not much more than the standard Ford explores angles of 21 and 22.3 degrees respectively.
But hey, when you're out there in the wild, every little bit helps.
Fortunately, the timber line is good plated from front to rear.
So just go ahead and hit that stuff with momentum fields just slide right over those rocks.

And look if you can't have a rear locker, well, at least you can have a Torsen limited slip differential in the rear.
That's gonna put the torque to the wheel that's got the most traction.

The Timberline doesn't offer any more drive modes in the standard Explorer.
So look for normal trail, deep snow and sand, slippery sports tow haul and Eco mode as well as standard For downhill descent control.
Under hood you'll find a Ford's 2.3 liter EcoBoost inline four cylinder engine pushing out 300 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque and that's made it to a ten speed automatic transmission.
Inside you'll find it rubber format liners as well as active ex trim seats with cloth insert.
So things should be pretty easy to clean up
Outside the Timberline gets a new forged green metallic color, which is pretty dope.
You'll find some blacked-out badges here as well as Timberline badges all the way around.
And should you want to add auxiliary lighting, there is a wiring harness right there behind the grille, so you can just plug and play.
The Ford Explorer Timberline starts at $47,010, and that includes $1,245 for destination.
