If you're looking to buy a sound bar for your television, you can spend anywhere from $100 to many thousands.
But the current sweet spot is 400 bucks.
While there are plenty of products at this price level, one product stands above them all.
Hi, I'm Ty Pendlebury, and the Yamaha YAS-203 is an amazingly good sound bar, which offers a number of features not found on its competitors.
This is a stereo sound bar with a separate sub-woofer, and it's relatively attractive looking and short enough as not to block the sensors on most TVs.
Unlike some of the more expensive Yamaha sound bars, this model only does pseudo-surround.
It doesn't bounce sound beams off your walls.
But it does do a better job at creating an enveloping sound field than our previous favorite, the Pioneer SPSB 23.
Also, the Yamaha comes with both Dolby and DTS decoding, so it's more flexible when you're watching movies.
The sub-woofer is good at recreating low end sound effects, and the sub-woofer volume control means you can tailor the sound to your taste.
If you want to play music, the sound is better than most.
And the inclusion of Apptix Bluetooth means your compatible phone can get better wireless streaming quality.
As far as connections are concerned, the sound bar has optical and coaxial connections, but no HDMI, as well as a pair of RCAs.
If you're looking at spending $400 on a home cinema system.
The Yamaha YAS 203 is the one to get.
