>> Hey, what's going on everyone? I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com, and today I'm here with a quick tip that will show you how to easily upgrade your Wordpress blog to the current version. Now, there are a few ways to upgrade your blog. You can either follow Wordpress' three-step approach. Or you can follow the manual upgrade option. But if you're like me, and you've got a bunch of plugins on your Wordpress blog, you just want everything to install and upgrade smoothly. We, along with Wordpress, really recommend that you download and use the Wordpress automatic upgrade plugin. Now, the first thing you're gonna need to do is go to the plugins website and download it. Head over to Google and search for "Wordpress automatic upgrade plugin." We'd give you the direct URL, but it's about ten feet long, and there's not enough room on the screen here. So just go to Google. Make sure you click on Techie Buzz site result, and then click on through. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on download Wordpress automatic upgrade plugin. Next, you're gonna unzip that file you just downloaded, and then log in to your website's FTP server. Then, place the folder you just unzipped called "Wordpress automatic upgrade," and pop it into your plugins directory. Then log into your Wordpress site and activate the plugin through the link on the right side of the administration page. Scroll down to the plugin, and then just click activate. Now, you're gonna need your FTP credentials handy, so make sure you know what they are before you begin. Now, the plugin will go through a bunch of tests to make sure your account is ready to go. Once it's finished, it will give you a link where you can start the upgrade. The plugin will automatically back up your old database; so don't worry about losing any of the information from your original blog. The plugin will automatically grab the latest version of Wordpress from the website Wordpress.org. Now, we know there's a lot of screens you have to click next on, but believe us, it's a lot easier than manually upgrading Wordpress. When you're done, you'll get a congratulations screen, and you'll have to click one more link to complete the final installation. Now, this is the easiest way to upgrade Wordpress without manually installing everything. And the best part about this is that it'll continue to work as Wordpress releases new versions in the future. It's pretty simple. We really recommend it. I'm using it, so it's pretty cool. I'm Jeff Bakalar, and this has been a Wordpress upgrade quick tip. Thanks for watching.
