Top 5 tech tips for new parents

Gadgets
Welcome to the Top 5. Today we're counting down the Top 5 Tech Tips for New Parents. What makes me an authority? This guy. At number 5, register your kid's name online. Once you pick a name for your child, it's time to start setting up a digital footprint. First, pick web address. So if you named you kid Chalupa Batman MacArthur, register chalupabatmanmacarthur.com. Maybe he can get the username on Twitter or Gmail. Just be aware that the chance that in the future, your kid will have no idea what a Twitter is, because some other site became the place to write short thoughts. At number four, get a real camera, or make sure your phone has a really good camera. You know who doesn't sit well for photos? Little kids. Cameras with optical image stabilization help you take nice, clear photos while your hand is shaking because you're on zero hours of sleep. Also take a look at cameras that can take good pictures in low light. Why? When you finally get your little bundle of joy to sleep, you might wanna take that little cute pose that they're in. You wanna take that picture! You turn the light on, and then potentially wake them up, and they're screaming? Or do you have a camera that can take a picture I think you know what I mean. And number three, get wireless headphones. This is a strange one. The more things you have hanging off of you, the more things kids can grab. Wired headphones can get pulled out or hang down where you don't need it. Bluetooth headphones are very helpful when you want to listen to an audio book, music, or whatever. When you have to move quickly you're not tethered to something so you can attend to your little one. And number two, invest in tough tech. Nothing is as important as your kid. Inevitably, you will let your tech fall to the ground to save your offspring. However, with some prep, you'll be able to pick up your gadgets, dust it off, and continue using it. The Droid Turbo II can really take a beating with it's incredibly tough screen. Internationally, the phone is known as Moto X Force. And if you don't wanna get a new phone, think about getting a hefty case. And the number one tech tip for new parents. Parents, don't overdo it with tech. There are a million little gadgets you can outfit a nursery with. But you don't need every little thing. You probably don't need a netcam pointed at your child whose on a mattress that actually lets you know if the kid is breathing or not. You probably don't need to post every single picture of your precious little angel on Facebook for all to see. Oh, and here's a bonus tip. Back up your photos and videos to the cloud or somewhere safe, because you're going to want to see those later. For more top fives like this, check out top5.cnet.com. I'm Iyaz Akhtar and we'll see you later. [MUSIC]
