Speaker 1: The iPhone 13 is official following in the well paved tracks, the iPhone 12 lineup, the iPhone 13 family has an iPhone 13, 13 mini 13 pro and a 13 Promax yay. The mini survived another day with new cameras, brighter displays, a smaller knock and a bigger battery. There is, is a lot to be excited about. So let's jump right into this and start with [00:00:30] the prices and basics. The iPhones 13 will cost the same as the iPhones 12, but come with 128 gigabytes of storage instead of 64 gigabytes of storage, you can pre-order the iPhone 13, 13 mini as well as the pro models starting on Friday, September 17th, and the phones will ship on Friday, September 24th. So pro probably the most welcomed new feature is a bigger battery.
Speaker 1: Apple didn't share the size, but claims the new battery along with iOS 15, the eight, 15 chip and more efficient components adds two and a half hours, more battery life to the iPhone 13. And that's compared to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 mini should get an extra hour and a half, and that is a significant increase. And remember the [00:01:30] battery life on the iPhone, 12 mini was a compromise and some people just weren't willing to make it, to get that small the phones. So hopefully this helps yay mini. Now all of the new phones, the same flat sided edge design as the iPhone 12. And that's not a bad thing. I know some people like curved edges better, and my preference is four squared off edges. Now the iPhone 13 and 13 mini have a brighter OED screen and keep [00:02:00] the same five point inch size for the mini and six point inch size screen on the regular 13, the 13 and 13 mini have a glossy back and matte finish aluminum sides.
Speaker 1: They come in pink, blue midnight, which is kind of black with cues of indigo Starlight, which is white and has hues of gold on the rails and product red, which a deeper hue of red than previously seen on the iPhone. But other than that, it's the same ceramic [00:02:30] healed over the front, the same IP 68 rating for water industrial assistance and the same lightning connector on the bottom. Now the iPhone 13 and 13 mini get an updated camera system, which is apparent from the new diagonal orientation of the two rear cameras. In fact, apple says that this new orientation is the result of making room for a new sensor based stabilization system, which
Speaker 2: Previously was only [00:03:00] found on the iPhone 12 pro max in comparison, the cameras on the iPhone 12 and 12 mini were stacked vertically, the 13 and 13 mini get an improved 12 megapixel main camera and a better ultra wide lens. And sensored. One thing I should point out is that only the pro models get the ultra wide macro of photography feed here. And the ability to auto focus using the ultra wide camera. Now the ultra wide on the regular 13 and 13, many is just still fixed focus. There's [00:03:30] a new cinematic mode to make your videos appear more. Filmlike when you use this mode that camera can lock onto your subject and keep them focus. Whether they're standing still or moving the iPhone can even anticipate when your subject comes into and out of the frame. And another need effect is the ability to pull focus from one subject to the other.
Speaker 2: Also, you can change the focus after you record the video, which is kind wonderful. [00:04:00] The iPhones 13, get a new, a 15 bionic Kip, which brings smart HDR four to better optimize the dynamic range of photos. It identifies scenes like the sky, it optimizes for people's skin and hair. Even in video and night mode gets better support across all of the cameras. Also look, there's a ton here when it comes to photo and video and I'm glossing over a bunch right now, but don't worry. When I review the phones, I will definitely go more in depth on all the camera [00:04:30] and video features in terms of 5g, mag safe. Well, nothing caned is really except now there's a brand new version of the mag safe wall. It has a stronger magnet and a new NFC feature that triggers an alert when it's separated from your phone after a minute or so.
Speaker 2: But when you add up all this together, I think the new iPhone 13 and 13, many are pretty compelling for the same price as last year's model. You get twice the storage, which is awesome, a better battery [00:05:00] life, which is spec on the mini. Awesome. And these cameras seem like a very compelling upgrade, especially for cinematic video, AKA video portrait mode, but look, uh, until I get my hands on them and can review them, we'll see what happens, right?
