Hey, I'm Donald Bell for CNET.com here at CES 2013, giving you a first look at the TDK Wireless Charging Speaker.
This is a pretty cool little miniature portable speaker from TDK.
I've been a big fan of TDK's products of the year- remember, there are three speaker boom box I reviewed last year was pretty darn awesome.
This is kinda going in another direction instead of being big and in your face.
This is small, and it really combines all of the wireless
capabilities you want in a speaker.
It is wireless for audio, Bluetooth, and it's got wireless power because it has a 6-hour battery built right into the bottom.
And you've also got wireless charging.
This is using the new Qi standard for wireless charging that's built in to phones like the Nokia Lumia 920.
It can be added to your phone via a case.
We're seeing a lot of Qi wireless charging products out here at CES right now.
So, it's going to be a big trend going into 2013.
And this speaker is really there to capture that wireless charging trend, so you get the [unk] effect of all those wireless technologies all in one device.
Now, it's coming out in spring.
The MSRP is $399, so it's not inexpensive.
It is a great-looking speaker.
You're getting all those different wireless capabilities in here.
You've also got EQ control on the front using this pretty neat little dial that gives you analog control over the EQ.
And you've also got
this-- what TDK is calling a 360 sound here.
So, you could be in the middle of a room and you're going to get sound spread out from the four different tweeters out here on the top edge, and on the back, you've got this little woofer port here to really get some thumping tunes out of this box.
Now, if you don't have Bluetooth on the device that you want to connect to this, you have an aux input on the back.
You've also got a USB port here on the back if you want to connect any devices that aren't going to be able to make use of the Qi wireless
charging on the top of this.
So, there you go.
That is the TDK Wireless Charging Speaker, due out in spring, $399.
A great product that combines all of the wireless technologies in one.
From CES 2013, I'm Donald Bell.
