Sebastian Terry changes peoples' lives, '100 Things' at a time (Tomorrow Daily 345)

On today's show, we deep dive into whether or not chainsaw drones are a good idea. Spoiler alert, they're not. We also talk about the inflatable space hotel heading up to the ISS this weekend, and whether or not you should buy a cosmic ray detector for your home. [MUSIC] Greetings, citizens of the internet. Welcome to Tomorrow Daily [INAUDIBLE] I'm Ashley Esqueda. And I'm Jeff Cannata, my gosh we have a big awesome show today. Yes get ready for about approximately 45 minutes of action. I want to see you in that suit, I can't wait! It's not like a full suit, it's just a bunch of accoutrement That. Weights and. It's up. Things that make your vision messed up. It's a lot. Of knick knacks. Anyway. On your body. And it was really fun. But before we do that, we should probably get into that one. Yeah. [MUSIC]. As I said in the intro, guys, chainsaw drones, probably not the best idea. Okay, now maybe the term chainsaw drone is a little confusing. We should probably explain what that is. It's a drone that has a chainsaw on it. A running chainsaw on it. Like it is working, yeah there's the #killerdrone. Some, a group of guys decided to stick a chainsaw on the bottom of a drone and fly it around. They actually accomplished things with it. They did. They chopped things down, they were cutting icicles They were. Well okay so let's discuss because first of all, I feel like they're way to close to that launch platform. Yeah, listen. That guy, the guy on the red, that's a death waiting to happen. I've flown a drone before and almost always immediately it runs towards my face. [LAUGH] Exactly right. This guy is the bravest man on Earth. Yeah. This guy in the orange and black sweater is the bravest man in the universe. I like how they- Look, they run away from it. [CROSSTALK] Yeah exactly, just run away. Look at this poor unsuspecting snowman. He didn't do anything wrong to anybody. No, he's just trying to bring joy to the world and then the chainsaw drone came. And ruined his life. Look at this thing. It's like a first person shooter. It's pretty intense. This reminds me of Doom. Having to change [CROSSTALK] That does look like just stock footage from the next Terminator movie. Yeah, it really does. So, let's talk about weapons on drugs here so these are Finish classic Finish farmers right? [LAUGH] Am I right guys? They mounted this you can see the chainsaw's actually upside down. Look here it comes. It's gonna cut some icicles. It's gonna cut some icicles. The chainsaw is upside down and they actually said it diminished It's ability to cut through things quite a bit. Yeah. I did not see evidence of that really. [CROSSTALK] Look. Did that tree? [LAUGH] It seems like it's doing just fine. That drone is also huge. Yeah. Fortunately, this, Feels like it would be the loudest drone on the face of the earth. Sorry there frosty! It just decapitated that snowman. That was like watching the Walking Dead. But my favorite thing is that the most innocent of items A little pink balloon took it out of the sky. Now. It hit it, it, like>>Is that not the most inspiring thing you've ever heard? It's so, it's a metaphor. It is. Inside the metaphor. It's a total metaphor. How do you fight chainsaw drone? Pink, adorable pink balloon. Pink balloon. It just came Ow, look at it. Take that Take that dystopia android future. Pink balloon is like, you thought you were gonna take over? I don't think so. I think this guy's next project is flamethrower drone? Well, we've seen that. That's true. We've seen a flamethrower drone, we've seen a drone that shoots a gun Bad idea to me. Also very bad idea. Also very illegal. I mean I can see why anti-drone technology is becoming very important. I'm all about drones, I love them, I think we should be able to fly them. I'm all about drone rights, but. I'm just going to stock my basement. With a bunch of balloons. Yep. Just in case, to be safe also I need a basement. You do need a basement. I'm gonna stock my yeah, roof with balloons. Just inflated balloons all the time. I like it. Just in case. In case, you never know when you need to defend yourself against the. Against the chainsaw drone. The chainsaw drone. Very serious. Just an awesome image. That's all I can say is. I know. I don't know how useful this thing is. I just want to high five these guys, all day, for a whole day. Yeah. And just go, look, that was super dangerous and I know someone is going to do something like this with a drone and really get hurt. Seriously. [LAUGH] Totally. But, you guys nailed it. Yeah. This is gonna be in the folder of the Skynet. Potential Darwin awards. Yeah. Skynet folder that says, Ideas. Yeah. Great ideas. Great ideas the humans gave us. That is exactly the folder that's hiding in. You wanna talk about bouncy space hotels? Yeah! I hope it's bouncy. This is an idea about creating an expandable Room basically for the International Space Station so that we can live there more comfortably. Yes, and there's also some benefits in terms of what the actual beam can do that is better than what we have up on the ISS right now. So Beam is the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, they've been working on this for a while, in fact, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, and I have a pretty good memory, we reported on this when they announced it on Tomorrow Daily, maybe a couple years ago almost, and now it's finally heading up to the ISS, this a render of what they feel the process would It be like exactly what they are hoping will happen. It will go up there. [UNKNOWN] Now it's expanding. It's gonna be attached to the Tranquility Module, and it's gonna be attached there for two years. They're gonna attach it and then they are going to expand it very slowly Once it is fully expanded they're going to do a bunch of tests. If there's leaks, if there's any kind of fluctuations in different levels of oxygen, whatever they need to test inside the beam and then, every now and again, they're going to allow an astronaut to spend, I believe it's like up to two hours At a time inside the module so they won't be sleeping in there. That was one of the things I think a couple people asked online. They're like, "Well is there gonna be an astronaut actually in there like able to sleep?" No they're gonna spend time in there and do some tests and maybe try to do some work in there cuz the idea is it's not just a living quarter, it could also be used as a work space. And then, the actual material it's made of. Because it's a little more absorbent. It's not hard like the rest. It's not metal like the rest of the ISS. Yeah. Can take impacts a little bit better. So they're saying over time, this actually could a, save a lot of money. And b, it really shows itself to be a viable. Module for living and work. There's a possibility that this same type of technology could be used to send, ahead of time, a living quarter for a manned mission to Mars. So much like in The Martian when they send the cab out, it'll be something similar to that, where it would sort of expand over time, and then the [UNKNOWN]. It would be there. Would get there and it would all ready be there. Yeah, yeah. Which I think is just super fascinating. And also this will be a lot cheaper. Right. This is the sort of the other big thing is that because it can be packed so small, you can even launch it from a rocket and it's about 3,000 pounds. It goes up into space, it's much cheaper than sending up a bunch of metal. So and lighter. It's awesome. Like [CROSSTALK] This is very much a science fiction concept. I think it was in the new Neil Stephenson novel, Seveneves, I think they talked about expandable rooms in their space stations. And I love that science fiction's becoming science fact. And it really does look like it could work and be a viable solution. So many upsides. And I, you know? These are baby steps, as you said. Long time it's gonna be up there with no one it. Right. Just to make sure it works, but. Make sure it works. Really cool. Make sure nothing, nothing bad is gonna happen. I'm sure when the astronauts are inside the module, they'll probably, potentially at first, be in their actual space suits. Yeah. Definitely. Just in case. Yeah. Like all the, you know, all the stuff. Yeah. But really exciting. And this is we have. Actually, we have a. A Twitterer. Someone on Twitter reached out to us and was like hey I work at Bigelow Aerospace.>>>And they're gonna send us to space?>>>Unfortunately no.>>To live there for a while? Because I'm willing to do that>>>I'm sorry, sorry no. I wish that is what they said but no.>>>So close But I'm gonna try to get somebody from Bigelow Aerospace maybe come on this show, maybe we can talk hey- They'll replace us because we'll be in space living. We will be in space living cuz Bigelow- It's a solid plan actually. Probably gonna set us up. I'm appreciated. And it's not Bigelow Aerospace we could just stow away on a space X rocket. It's a great idea what could possibly go wrong? What we do is get dummies that look just like us. Robots, we just get robots. Robots. Or we could use that software that lets Logan pretend to be us and then we'd just be us. Meanwhile, we're living it up in space. Bouncy house style. Yeah. Bouncy house. Bouncy House Hotel, that's gonna be where we live. Okay, lastly, let's talk about COSMICPI. This is very important if we're gonna be able to live in space, we gotta make sure the cosmic rays are okay. That's very true. We have to make sure the cosmic rays don't get us. So I though this was- I like the idea that today's episode was a three-act play where we have to escape Earth because of the- Killer chainsaw drunk. Drunk, and we're gonna live in space. Live in space. But if we live in space, we gotta be aware of the cosmic rays. We gotta be aware. We gotta learn about cosmic rays. Very serious. Yeah. I love this idea that at Cerne, where the large Hadron collider, like they're just like well.>> They got spare time. We figured out that whole Higgs-Boson thing, so we're just gonna->> God particle->> Do some other stuff. On the on hours. On the off hours we'll work on other things. It's that 80/20 rule. 80% of the time they're working on LHD's. Exactly. Stuff and then the other 20%, they're working on stuff, I don't know, making a tiny inexpensive cosmic ray detector. Because that, that's what you do on your spare time. apparently, when you are a CERN scientist. Which. So cosmic rays are not just something that Stan Lee made up to create what to find out before. Yeah, sure. They're real. They're actual things. Yeah. And they are bombarding the earth at all times At all times. Yeah, and you can actually detect them fairly easily evidently. Yeah, so the idea behind this is, I'll explain a little bit more. So when cosmogrades, as I am to believe as I have read this is how I understand it, please correct me if I'm wrong science people. When cosmic rays hit our atmosphere, they hit the edge of our atmosphere and then they start breaking off, so you start seeing, almost like a meteor when it starts breaking up, so similar to that. So cosmic ray hits the atmosphere, breaks up and then it passes through the Earth. So, there's lots of different points where one cosmic ray could pass through the Earth because its sort of been, almost like refractions so, When that happens, CERN and a lot of scientists wanna know. There's still a lot of questions that are unanswered about cosmic rays, so one of them being able to pinpoint the origin of them. Because when they get Spread out like that. It's hard to sort of pinpoint exactly where it came from. So what they're hoping is this project, Cosmic Pi, people would have these cosmic ray detectors. And then whenever it detected it would send data to a really big database where some scientists could analyze the data and say okay, So I see this grouping and all of these [UNKNOWN] got hit with a cosmic ray from, and now I can sort of look at the data and say it definitely came from this point in the atmosphere. Right. And in doing so, Sort of reverse engineer the original location. Right. And where it came from. It's almost distributed computing, right, if we get a lot of these into the hands of a lot of people at once, we'll get a larger data set Right.>>And so now we can Sort of like solving for y, it's like Yeah. It's sort of like well, okay, I want to know where this came from, so now I have all this data and I sort of put all the pieces together and solve for y. It's a real Ingenious idea, actually. And I think this could potentially give a lot of information that's useful. Sure. It's sort of like a gravitational wave thing, I would imagine. Where it's a phenomenon that is Not entirely understood by science but I bet if we knew more about it it could potentially be used for many applications. Yeah. Sort of say, "Well we don't know exactly how we're gonna use this but we really want that data just in case." And it could apply to all these different things. I just don't know as an end user, if I invest in one of these things, cuz they ain't cheap. They're like, 500 bucks. It's 500 bucks. Yeah. Which is affordable, like affordable to them. Compared to the Hadron collider. Right, yeah, well, that was the one thing I thought was really nice, was that they said, obviously Not everyone can have a Hadron Collider in their house. That would be amazing. But this would be a way to sort of have a small piece of Cern in your home. And I thought that was really nice. And it was almost like, okay if you think about it, it would be a really big observation pool. Yeah. Sort of on the size of the LHC if everybody had one. Just in little pieces. I think there are so many people that get really into astronomy and there's a lot of sort of hobbyist astronomers-sure that actually contribute to the general database of what we know about-greatly the cosmos. So, another tool like a telescope or other tools that allow. Amateurs basically to contribute data to the professionals I think is always going to be a positive thing. It's always good and I think something built by scientists that hobbyists can have in their home or even non-hobbyists. I mean, I don't have a telescope at home I want one, but But even someone who's not a specific hobbyist can have this in their home and contribute to science without, sorta like, remember when the play station when they're doing the computing stuff and they're like, hey do you want to lend your- Yeah, was it called bend-at-home or Yeah. I think so, yeah. You could lend a clock cycles to working on- Study and stuff. Yeah. It was really cool, it's like one of those things where you kind of have a device in your house. I almost want all technology companies kind of incorporate things like that, where it's like hey. We're gonna just. Like check this thing out and you're gonna give .1% of your computing power and if everybody does it then it would be a big deal. I always fantasized because you know I play World of Warcraft and Diablo and stuff and basically all I'm doing is clicking on things a thousand times a minute. I always figured like if they could figure out a way to create a front end that's a game and the back end is actually doing work That'd be amazing. [CROSSTALK] amazing. Like everybody is clicking on something because we need to click on things. And you just turn it into a game. Yeah. I don't know. You could make it, make it work. Thanks for having me. This is such an awesome inspiring show that you are doing now, tell us a little bit about it. Well thanks very much. It's called 100 Things. It's essentially based on a journey that I've been on for seven years So I, several years ago I lost a close friend of mine, and it made me reconsider life, basically, what I was doing and how my friend was living his life I think was something I really enjoyed, I really valued. And I thought right, I'm unhappy so I need to change this. So I got a piece of paper and a pen, and I just jotted down things I thought would make me smile, and that was the beginning of this journey really. So I dropped everything in my life and I just went for it. So I started taking off very bizarre things, I married a stranger in Las Vegas, I delivered a baby, I walked across the country, I got a Guinness World Record, it just goes on and on. Wait, wait, wait, so you wrote a list of things that make you. Smile and they include marrying a stranger in Vegas. Yeah. Delivering a baby. You're smiling. Well that's true. [CROSSTALK] I mean we're very [CROSSTALK] yeah well played on that. Everyone's is different but the progression is now that I spend all my time helping people achieve their goals and that's yes, so I get to help people around the world achieve very specific unique goals and so the trailer drops i think today or yesterday? yes so yesterday, and then so tell us little about may be if it's gonna be tonight, what some of the People have on their list that we're gonna see in 100 Things. Yeah, well, it's a relative concept, isn't it? So everyone's list is completely different. So we're helping all sorts of people in all different ways. My voice is a bit hoarse today because yesterday we helped a guy, Delotts, his name was, his dream was to face a major league fastball. So we reached out to my community. So I've got this incredible community follow me online. And they just wanna help people out, basically, so I said, how can we help this guy out and someone put me in touch with somebody else, put me in touch with Brett Tomko- Wow. An ex major league baseball player. Yeah. So he organized his mate, Adam Kennedy, played for the, what's the team, Anaheim Angels. He was their batting coach and we went down there and basically made this happen. And I won't say exactly how the episode ends. But we met on the center mound on the diamond. And we went to the plate. I don't even know what you call it, the batting plate. The batting plate. I'll take it, I'll take it. No, it's good, I love how [UNKNOWN] you are. Well, I play cricket in Australia. I was gonna say, yeah. And he's got a lot to face this guy. And he's [UNKNOWN] as well. And he's won and the ending is just amazing. And I can't say more. You can easily guess what happened but it was unreal. Shattered the backboard. Yeah. [UNKNOWN] everywhere. [INAUDIBLE] Everyone has a list I think. And it's often forgotten about. So some of the episodes kind of remind us of that. There was a A lady, Kim, cleaning out her house, and she found a bit of paper int he back of her husbands drawer and it was a list of a hundred things he wrote up in high school. And, he'd forgotten about it, basically, and she contacted us and said can you help him do one of these things, and one of the items was to do a cattle drive, run a cattle drive. And we said, yeah, we can do that, so we surprised him, we knocked on his door, really nice guy, And he went, who are you? And I was like, I'm from Australia. I- [LAUGH] I wanna make you a cowboy. I did. I'm gonna turn you into a cattle rancher. [LAUGH] So, I said, let's go. And so, we hopped on a plane, went to Arizona, lived on a cattle ranch for three days. Wow. And we ran a cattle drive. We took 100 head of cattle, roughly, and just took them across the plains, and we had to learn how to ride horses, and lasso and It was unreal. We helped a girl in LA I guess create her first solo art exhibition which was awesome. It's just, we're going to Europe today actually to film another 14 episodes. Wow. We're gonna go, I mean it's a very mellow, very emotional episode, but one of the first ones is going to a concentration camp. To reunite two people, family members. Wow. Which is deep. Which is heavy. Very heavy. But if it's on someone's list. Of course. And that's the thing, I mean- So the idea here is- journey. to give someone a beautiful moment right? Yeah. Just to create something that brings- Big or small. happiness. Yeah. Take a dream, because we all have them, and just make them reality. One person its finding company but someone else it's Learning the harmonica. Now, at first a hundred things like you said, you made your list. And you started doing those things and you. Til they bring a baby. [CROSSTALK] Marrying a stranger base and you started 100things.comau. Yeah. And this, you talk a lot about one of the things that I think is really cool. Is your community of people. A whole bunch of people got really inspired. Inspired by you and now you have this global community, people all want to help each other out. And, it also happened accidentally I didn't set out, I'd never thought I would be talking to you guys. I just thought it would be a personal thing, but, there was something to it, it very quickly got a bit of traction and I think it just goes to show that we all want to be doing things. And some of us, like I was You take a backseat to your own life sometimes. And you, we create a lot of excuses why we can't do things whether it's money or commitments or fear of getting out of your comfort zone and all things that definitely applied to me. But I started breaking down those barriers I think just through trying. Yeah. Sure. And so people enjoy that. So yeah, the progression has been I go to a point. I use this analogy. You know when you get onto a plane and they say in case of an emergency an oxygen mask will drop from the ceiling. Before helping anyone else, put yours on first. Right. Sure. Which is so interesting. It's almost selfish. Put yours first, but i think in life you have to. You have to help yourself out. i think you need to be. Pursuing a meaningful lifestyle, purpose driven. And I think once you do that, you will find yourself able to help others more productively. And so that's what happened. I do work with a TV back home, in Australia I'm huge, that's not true. [LAUGH] Right in an interview this wrote in and he said I saw your list you've inspired me to create mine, can you shave my head? So I thought, okay, why not. [LAUGH] I was down by Turkey. Right, yeah. So I flew to Melvin, I shaved Mark's head. And then Mark's story is that he was completely able bodied until 30, got bitten by a tick. No. And got Lyme disease. [CROSSTALK] My god. So within six months. [CROSSTALK] My gosh. He's like changed. He's a quadriplegic now, He needs a ventilator to sleep at night, he can't talk cuz of a tic. God. And as I was shaving his head, I saw how stoked he was. And I was so happy to be helping, and then I said well I can do more than this for you, what else can I do? And he said via his translator you know I've always wanted to do a half marathon. So I said okay, how can I help you do that, cuz I'm slow on the uptake. And he said well you can push me. And it was that. [CROSSTALK] What a simple elegant answer. And I said why has no one offered to push you? And he said, I only came up with my list yesterday. [LAUGH] You know, there's something in that. So I just signed us up for the Melbourne 1/2 marathon and I pushed him. And it was the first time that I ever helped anybody out. And the interesting thing on that was by the time the marathon came around, I had a bunch of people who wanted to help me help Mark. So from my findings if you want to call it that is I'm just discovering that we all want to help people. We all innately want to, we have the ability And we have a desire and it's about, I guess match-making now for me so I, you know, I find people that need help, so kinda help everyone and I find a lot of people who wants to help and I just match them up and it's beautiful. Sure. I think it's such a cool thing and, you know, we're technology focused here and I think The thing that's so amazing about this is that it really is because of the internet. Because people are connected, you can do this. People talk about the internet being a negative thing a lot, but this is a really positive thing. Yeah I mean I'm not that tech savvy to be honest yes, this community has built up. And it's just the idea of connection I think a I've got no problem putting anything on social media about what I do, because ultimately, it helps people. It's not an egotistical thing. But the beauty of it is, is that it connects. It just connects to people, and I haven't tried for that to happen. People are all around the world, meeting people and helping people online. I get contacted by everyone. Little old lady who His partner passed away. She wanted me to move a pot plant in her yard. So I helped. Easy. The same thing happened for a lady in Perth. That's the other side of the country. I'm from Sidney. So someone in Perth got in touch with me and said, can I do it. I just put them in touch and that happened. And this is all via social media. A lady who was suicidal contacted me. She found a bit of hope in what I was doing. A really sad story. I won't go into it but it was terrible. And then I just rang her up and someone else connected with her and they rang her up and all online we found her account so the police got involved and she's good now. It's gotta be so rewarding. It's just, it's really cool. Well with her life being saved I can't stop what I do now. Which was awesome. I don't know what direction we were going. [CROSSTALK] It's like when people start working out. They say I can't stop now cuz it feels so good to exercise. It's the thing. This is like a spiritual exercise. You're sorta out there helping people. It feels so good that you don't want to stop. It's almost an addiction to help people. Which is really great. Yeah and the show it just brings it out. So it's done so well and of course I would say that even if that wasn't the truth, but it is the truth. And I saw the trailer yesterday and it's only a minute long but it's a bit of tear-jerker and I know you have seen the few episode behind the scenes. And. They're, they're just awesome. So I, before you go. I definitely have to ask you how delivering someone's baby went. Well it's because Jeff has a baby due later this year. I do. And I'm [UNKNOWN] to be in the room. Maybe you can come back to LA, maybe come to LA to deliver it. I'm not sure I want to be in the room, my wife says I have to. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever witnessed. Funny, you know, this is to the point in social media how it connects people. This girl followed me online in Canada. And said, I'm pregnant, I'm Jew. If you wanna help out,I know you want to, you can come and help deliver. So I said, okay. Sure, why not. So I got my credit card out, so I got my money, this just happens, and so I moved to her home town of Virginia in Canada- So that hilarious. Okay, that's a coincidence. So you saw her vagina. I, yeah Bartender excuse me I do apologize. Yeah, I don't know whatever you call that [LAUGH] I had one of her legs over my shoulder when it happened [LAUGH] and like so when it came out, the baby. Then I saw it. The robot baby. Yeah, there was no light saber but it came out and I just couldn't stop crying, so I had the baby and I put it on her tummy. My God. And. How long, did you train for this or did you just show up and you're like, I'll just wing it. There was a midwife there- Okay, all right. She just said put your hands here. Yeah, like hold your hands- I mean it, it was. What an amazing thing. It was, I know, it really was a baby- You have like a connection with that child now. Well it's weird because obviously the emotional connection is in, you know, the same as being a A pair of shirt. Great. But to me it showed that everyone is, I mean how generous to want me into some [UNKNOWN] Yeah. Yeah. It was, I mean it's much longer story than that. But- What a moment for everybody involved. That mean [UNKNOWN] which is [UNKNOWN] big deal. I meet my lost long friend [UNKNOWN] three and a half I think. So, yeah.>>>Wow.>>>It's awesome. So aside from a 100 things you also do things with Make a Wish?>>>Yeah. I raise money for charities so you know I wanted to raise $10,000 for Camp Quality which is an Australian kids' camp it's a charity And I ended up making $100,000 for them somehow, again, accidentally. So I thought, well why would I stop here? So I then raised $100,000 for Alzheimer's Australia. My mom has the onset of dementia, which is really sad, she's 60. So I did that. And then Make a Wish approached me and said, can you be an ambassador? And I guess I do a similar thing in terms of helping people. So I said absolutely, and so I'm raising $100,000 for those guys. I don't know how, but it will happen, I'm sure. Yeah, so I love the idea that you can go through life and help other people on a peer to peer level or in a charity sense, as well. So I'm very blessed to be doing what I'm doing. That's great. So how can we watch the show? Yeah how can we watch it? And my very last question will be to anyone out there who is having trouble thinking of things for their own list, what's your best advice? Give yourself permission to consider your version of happiness and I think once you've done that, just make your choice to pull the trigger. It's that simple. What else What else is more important than just feeling good about yourself and what is that? And I think by doing that asking yourself the question what's on your list which I wanna ask you too. I think the ramifications of that answer- Yeah. Could change a life and I think probably more importantly change the lives of people around you. And that's just what I'm finding out. And we are all good humans of course. Every viewer of this show is a good human. So I think that if you could help somebody do something on their list or if you want to do something like reach out and help. And you know what good humans don't do actually. They don't drive intoxicated or inebriated. That's true, they don't. But I did. [LAUGH] Kind of. Kind of. So, this is really fascinating. So Ford has a program called Ford's Driving Skills For Life. They had a drunk driving suit that they've been using in these seminars and everything. And now they had a drug driving suit, which I think we talked about back in November or December. And I got to actually use it, so check this out. It's not easy explaining how dangerous driving under the influence is to teenagers who have shiny new licenses. Ford's Driving Skills for Life program Program isn't just telling teens it's a bad idea, though. They're showing them. This is what every saturday night looks like. Whoo. We're here in sunny Pasadena, California, testing out Ford's drugged driving suit. Now we've done a drunk driving suit But nothing quite like this. I've got goggles that impair my vision, there's some lights that flash on the outside, I'm wearing headphones that make really weird sounds as if my whole world is disordered around me, I've got weights on my arms, and a glove that simulates tremors. And I'm gonna try to drive around some cones, so look out cones. This get up might seem like over kill but Ford says it's not aiming to freak anybody out. The main thing that we want them to do is make the right decision. A lot of them say when they get behind the wheel they're like "Wow I didn't realize how big a deal this was or how it affects me this much. I can confirm that it does affect you a lot. I killed, my God. I murdered someone. Let's add a level of difficulty, let's tweet, we can take an Instagram. About 100 times harder. This is terrible. Can you unlock your phone? Don't text and drive. This suit is a new addition to the international program which includes 15 stops across the US. In a handful of countries around the globe. Ford says decision making before you get behind the wheel is one of the most important goals of its training courses. That's the message we really wanna drive home, is to make the right decision behind the wheel to keep yourself safe, your family safe, everybody else on the road safe. So when someone walks away and says, man I'm never gonna do that. That to me is the best feeling. And speaking of walking away, if you're wondering if it's any easier to navigate the world on foot while wearing the drug to driving suit, well, it's not. [LAUGH] [LAUGH] Ashley in the giraffe suit is my spirit animal. I mean it was so hard to do anything in that outfit, it was really tough. I think the two hardest things were The goggles were incredibly distorted, and then they had these lights on the inside that were sort of flashing. And they said it's to simulate taking LSD, but to me it reminded It reminded me of when you're driving your car and you see police lights behind you and you get Yeah. Scared, that you're the one getting pulled over, you're like what did I do wrong. Right. And that. Or paranoia from. Yeah, yeah, so, of course, yeah, so that was more of what it was like for me, but the weight on your Foot. Yeah. As you're walking, let's have you do like a field sobriety test and you do the walk the line thing and it was so impossible to stay balanced. Yeah. And you have to like keep your hands by your side, and I'm like I can't even walk a straight line sober. [LAUGH] The weights, is that based on some sort of research of the, Specific weight or they just put weight on to add more weight. I think it's to throw you off balance. I think it's a balance issue so they just add weight on, there was one on my arm and there was one on the opposite leg, on my ankle. And I think it's to throw off your balance, make you feel imbalanced. So, it goes without saying, don't drink and drive, don't do drugs and drive. Yeah, very important. This I think drives home the point, Yeah, it really does. It's just a stupid [INAUDIBLE]. From everything that we've seen on the Ford's Driving Skills for Life website. I mean, these are really successful programs. And I have to say, it's really cool that they're doing this. As opposed to. They also do, which I think is awesome, they also do Emergency maneuver courses. Like you're able to, if you're a kid where they take you and they have you do like invasive, they have like stunt drivers and stuff come in and teach you how to avoid accidents and things like that. So it's more than just the drug Drugs to the drunk driving students. They do a lot of different things to help teenagers drive better on the road and make better decisions, but I just thought this was so cool. So, thank you to ford for letting me try it out cause they really went all out with it and had, cones set up and it was, I think I should thank them because That piece of video is gold. You're welcome. Man I'm sorry. You're welcome. If I ever need to something else. There might be a piece of b roll in there where actually that giant exercise ball hits me right there in the face. Like I'm pretty sure. You're like running around those cones not being able to do it, it's just hilarious. Well they gobbled it, made it look like there were two. [LAUGH] And you couldn't tell which one was the real cone because I didn't see them before I turned around and it was like they were there and I didn't know which one was real so there you go. Pure joy. Amazing. Do you wanna talk about what we are into this week? I think we should. Here's Into It. [MUSIC] Jeff, what could you possible be into Into this week. Well it's funny that we were just talking about first person thing that are disorienting because I saw a movie called Hardcore Henry Is this the one with Sharlto Copley. Sharlto Copley yes and it takes place entirely in first person perspective. That is weird. It shouldn't work. It shouldn't work. It is so fun this movie. I've seen a lot of movies that are based on video games. This movie is a video game. Wow. It is pure First-Person-Shooter The Movie. Everything that happens in a first-person shooter happens in this game. There's like the sniper level. There's a crazy wacky boss battle. It's insanity and it shouldn't work. It's just nut-so that they committed to this idea. It looks absolutely ludicrous.>>And you think my God, am I going to just throw up watching this because it's completely in third person the whole time. I never was nauseated at all, but there is so much fun and so much inventive action that happens, and the best part about it is it doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever, it's- That's the best. Really funny. This is not a movie for kids, it is very, very adult, very crass, very over the top. But it is a level of fun. [CROSSTALK] Woah. My god that girl going down the escalator. [CROSSTALK] Woah. [CROSSTALK] Is one of my favorite moments. I had such a blast, I really didn't think I was gonna like it, but as any fan of video games that's played any first person shooter, this movie is like a love letter to first person shooters. It is so wild, so crazy, I highly recommend it. I never thought I would like it, I love it. I'm super interested in that. Yeah. I heard Sholto this morning on the radio talking about it. And he was saying that that bridge scene, where they run across the bridge? He's like, these two stunt guys were basically just chatting about when they were kids, they used to run across this bridge with each other. And the director's like, hey do you want to do it? And they were like. Yeah. Like, pull over. All right, cool, like yeah we'll do it. And then he's like, we don't have any like, there's no, it was shot in like Russia. There's no safety, like. Exactly. So you just run, and if you fall off, you die. Well, that's, I was talking to my friend about it. I was like, how do you even make this movie? And he goes. Russia. You go to Russia, Yeah. where life is cheap. [LAUGH] Because it's basically the movie was made because people could die. Yeah, but, but actually, [UNKNOWN] said that he got maybe some bruises and, but nobody was injured on the set of the film, Thank goodness. which is amazing. But there are some things you see in this that you're like [CROSSTALK] How? [CROSSTALK] How? How? Those are the best kinds of movies, where you go how did that happen? [CROSSTALK] Yeah, I. [CROSSTALK] How did this, come to pass? [CROSSTALK] More than anything, I want a behind the scenes featurette for this movie. More than anything. Yeah, extras. Itunes extras, yeah, Itunes extras. What are you into this week? Well, it's kind of dumb you guys, but I still love my little BB8, Sphero I just wish he was larger, I want a full sized BB8. Especially after watching the special features on Force Awakens because it came out a week ago and Sphero updated BB8 to where he can watch the Force Awakens with you now. Good. And it is adorable. What does he do when he sees himself? When he sees himself he get's really excited. And it's like he's talking, and look that's me. Like it's, you can, listen guys. Look that's me. I ,I might understand what VB8 is saying more that you do, but it's like I feel like we have a connection and when when he, he goes totally crazy when Han and Chewy show up for the first time, he goes totally nuts. It is adorable like to have him sit there you put him yeah you keep him in his cradle. And then your iPhone or your android phone like it has on the [UNKNOWN] app watch with me and you can.>>Watch with me.>>Watch you can watch the Force Awakens just like use audio cues, so it knows where you are in the movie based on whats happening. You leave your phone open And you probably should because The Force Awakens is kind of a longer movie. You have to plug in BB8, because he's on for a long time, so. Yeah. But if it's really cute. You don't want him falling asleep when you're watching the movie. But it's really cute and Remember how we were talking about how future toys are going to be updatable. Right. Like they are going to add features so they last longer, like this is a prime example of that. And I thought it was really cool and really inventive that they did that. I love this, what they need to do is just keep updating him with more movies. Not just Star Wars movies like Just- Any movie. Just watch the Wizard of Oz with VBA. Any movie with robots in it. I would go for that. Yeah, or any movie at all. Like Terminator gets and it's really cute. So like he sees Kyle he gets scared. Like he gets sad. There's some ug. It's really cool. It's super cute. I think Cyril just went on sale. If you've been wanting to get one, they're like $20 cheaper. I'm trying to think what would be the perfect. I want people to send the perfect movie to watch BB8 with that would just be ridiculous. What movie to watch with a robot. Wall-E. Wally Andreotti with love. He's love falling. I was expecting like, you know, like Dumb and Dumber. Or something. Yeah that's a good one. Yeah one the robot wouldn't understand. Citizen Kane. There you go.
