Hi, I'm Kent German.
I'm here with the first look at the Samsung Gravity Txt for T-Mobile.
Overall, I like it.
So, I sense this is a basic phone.
There's no touchscreen.
We can see it is bright and colorful though.
Text almost half the phone size but it's perfectly serviceable for this type of phone.
It's got Samsung's standard user interface so it's got a grid-based menu system and then the internal menus were based on list.
So, it's very easy to use.
It also have a basic gray color scheme.
A little bit of a green highlight around the edge.
But, like I said, it's a really standard design.
Below is the navigation array.
Now, I wasn't totally in love with this because it actually has an optical joystick.
I just don't think that works well here.
The area is a little small and just this-- the screen is so small that you just-- you're constantly going up and down.
I just didn't find it was very comfortable.
The alphanumeric keypad below is slightly squashed together but I don't think it was a big deal.
I certainly got used to it.
On the back, you'll find a camera lens and a small speaker.
Messaging phone like I said, so it does have a full keyboard.
You just tip it on the sides.
Slide it up.
The slide [unk] doesn't felt pretty sturdy.
Now, there were things I like about the keyboard and there were things I didn't like.
It does [unk] a full button to the phone.
You will have number sharing space with letters and symbols but that's pretty standard on the phone like this but you also get a lot of shortcut keys from emoticons or ".com" key.
You can go right to messaging.
You can go right to social networks as well, so pretty functional that way.
The keys though they felt pretty stiff.
When I was typing that just felt like a plodding experience.
I actually went slower than I usually do even on a QWERTY keyboard.
Also, the-- the placement of some of the navigation keys, this was a little disorienting and you do have commands down here
at the bottom like you do on the phone as in its normal mode.
In this phone, the soft keys are actually down here, next to the space bar.
So, just kind of to get your eye to travel down and say, "Oh, yes.
This command goes down with that key." It was a little disorienting and I-- did have to get used to it.
Inside you'll find pretty standard features.
You got messaging, e-mail.
You have access to some apps for social media like Twitter and Facebook, pretty very below the midrange as far as features goes.
It's really around messaging.
It's really built around communication and I think the design is easy to use but you just need to get used to it.
So, I didn't love everything.
Calls were clear, voices sounded natural, and there was enough volume and I didn't-- got a strong signal wherever I went.
If you're looking for a midrange phone that delivers good quality and that's pretty easy to use, you can't really go wrong with this phone.
