Hey there, I'm Megan Wollerton for CNET Appliances, standing here with the salient i3 Android app.
This thing is very similar to the many thing and present iOS apps I've already reviewed, except it is strictly for Android users.
Here's the gist.
It's really.
Simple.
Basically you just download the Salient Eye app for free and you can press the button in the middle and instantly have a security camera.
And if anything walks through the field of view you will immediately get a text and an email complete with a series of photos of the offending pet or person.
Another feature I really like is the siren.
It is very loud so at the very.
At least it will annoy if not actually scare away any potential intruders.
Now this is different than Presence and Manything in a major way.
Those two work with two different devices, one that you keep as your camera and one that you use as your on the go live viewing device.
This does not work that way.
It has one device that's your stationary device that you use as your camera and it'll send a secondary device, or your computer, an email or text.
So you can't really use this as a webcam.
You can't check in on your pets throughout the day.
It is not a webcam at all.
It is strictly a security device designed to scare away intruders.
And as far as that goes, it does a fantastic job.
For a free app, it is easy to use.
It's well-designed, and it is as simple as it could possibly be.
And since it's free, I highly recommend you go ahead and try it out because there's really not risk at all.
Thanks for watching this review of the free SalientEye Android app.
