[NOISE]
Cnet's Ry Crist here, on the trade show floor at Life Fair International, the commercial and residential lighting expo in New York City.
And, what we've got here, is the luminous carpet from Phillips.
A special carpet that's got LED tacked underneath, and the carpet itself is light transmittant, so the light shines through when the lines are on and the lights disappear when they're off.
So right now you see the scrolling message.
You can walk on this.
You can spill drinks on it, vacuum over it.
Won't affect the lights at all.
This has been tested in Europe and now Philips is bringing this to North America this year with applications like airport directions and office messages.
All sorts of commercial applications.
Nothing residential yet.
But who knows?
Maybe in the future you'll have carpet in your living room that you can play Dance Dance Revolution on.
Here at Lightfair New York City, I'm CNET's Ry Crist.
