Hello, everyone! Im Molly Wood and welcome to the CNET Mailbag, the show where
we read all of your emails, and we always will, even if well, ok, well get to that in a
minute. Lets read some of your mail, shall we?
Jim writes in to say:
I enjoy cnet and I love BuzzReport, but your monomania about the iPod on steroids has
been overdone. Do you seriously believe that the whole internet community wants to hear
about nothing but the iPad? I'll even take the video of the bear giving birth on the
internet!
Heh. Oh, Jim. Believe me. I WISH the Internet community wanted to hear about
ANYTHING but the iPad, but trust me on this one thing: eight of our top ten most-
watched videos last week were about the iPad. Now, you could argue that we only DID
videos about the iPad last week, and you wouldnt be wrong. But those videos got a lot
more traffic than our usual stuff, know what Im saying? Im sorry youre sick of it. So
am I! But I got a job to do, here.
Now, on to non-iPad related email. Matt says:
One of my favorite CNET videos is the Prizefight. Brian Tong is very entertaining, and
the head to head reviews adds a new twist to the normal mid-numbingly dull reviews
found everywhere. However, after watching the iPhone beat out every phone in
existence, including a scam victory over the Motorola Droid, I settled down to watch
another drubbing by the usual gang of apple-lovers, this time over the Google Nexus One
But somehow the Nexus One actually came out on top! I was hyperventilating with joy.
The disappointment over Brian's face could not be entirely erased, and he could not
simply acknowledge that the Nexus One was "Your Prizefight Winner." Nonetheless, I
am glad that finally it was overcome.
I thought Brian took it fine, Matt! But I was pretty excited, too. In other Prizefight mail,
Anit says:
I just had a quick request for Brian Tong: can you make a Prizefight video of AVG free,
Avast Free, and Avira Free antiviruses? It'd be awesome if you could.
Thats a good suggestion, Anit! I threw it out to BT and he said hell get cracking on one.
Keep your eyes peeled.
In other requests, Michael wanted us to pass along a message:
Going to the 2010 Philadelphia Auto Show this Friday (Feb 4) and I think I already have
my two favorite cars picked out tell Cooley they are the Ford Fiesta and the Chevy Cruse
only because they just might be the only two cars there that I might be able to afford one
day. :D
Er. You got it, Michael! You can email him yourself, too, if you like, just want to talk
cars. Or Twitter him. Hope you had fun at the show!
Some mail for me, Chris writes in to say,
I just wanted to say how excited I am that you will be back as a full-time host of
BOL. It always puts a smile on my face when I hear your name introduced as I
listen to the show on the subway ride to work. Knowing I will get to hear that 5 days
a week is a great way to start my day. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Chris! Im excited, too but this is where the other shoe drops. Im back
to Buzz Out Loud five days a week, AND I have a new Molly Rants blog on News to
feed and water and Im sorry to say, that spells the end of Mailbag.
Im SO sorry, everyone, I know this is bad news for you, and I hope you can
understand that we have to make the tough choices around here to keep our sanity,
and to possibly make room for some new shows in the future that I know youll love.
But you can still mail your feedback and suggestions to Mailbag and I will make sure
the editors get them where necessary, and well write back as much as we can. And
heres a little parting gift from me to you MANY of you have asked this question
over the years and I think its time I answered it.
Shane says:
Who is the mailman in the podcast intro and ending?
Shane and everyone else the identity of the mailman is ..
Some dude we found on Google.
And thats it for the show, everyone. Thank you for watching. Send me your angry emails
at mailbag@cnet.com, and Ill read them, I promise. Ill miss you guys. See you on Buzz
Out Loud!
