>> I'm Senior Editor David Katzmaier from CNET.com and I'm with LG?s 42LB1DR. This is a 42 inch LCD TV with a built in DVR. Course you wouldn't notice from looking at the set. From front looks like any other LCD TV on the market. From the side however it is a little bit thicker but all though you can still hang it from the wall. If you don't hang it from the wall you can take advantage of this built in swivel on the stand here, the included stand is glossy which matches the frame around the TV right here. And of course, the speakers to either side do make it a little bit wider than a lot of other LCDs which have bottom mounted speakers. The built in DVR is a 160 gigabyte hard drive that can record 15 hours of HD or 66 hours of standard def programming. It can record via cable, antenna, or analog inputs, although only the cable and the antenna can accept the high definition. There is even a built in EPG from TV Guide so you can go head and schedule recordings that way and also go into the menu and delete recordings and view everything else that you could with a normal DVR. Unlike other DVRs, unfortunately you can only record one live program at once so you can't actually switch channels to another channel and watch another live program while something is recording. Unfortunately, the TVs video quality aside from the DVR functionality was a little bit, left a little bit to be desired. Its black levels were not quite as good as it should have been, there was also some uniformity issues, some bright spots on the screen. Of course, that can vary from sample to sample. We were impressed however by its picture adjustability which also enabled us to zero in on the color. So the color actually of this TV was pretty good. Although the overall picture quality was disappointing compared to other LCDs out there. Anyway that's a quick look at the LG 42LB1DR and I'm David Katzmaier.
