GameSpot's The Lobby: 2016 gaming predictionsWhat do we expect will happen to the world of gaming 2016? How wrong will we be? GameSpot's Danny O'Dwyer, Mike Mahardy and Erick Tay get real about the big games and news we're likely see see this year.
[MUSIC] [SOUND] Top 3 things that are gonna happen in 2016, I'll go first because I've just, you guys think about it cuz I'm throwing you a **** curveball. So okay, top three cool things that are gonna happen this year. Okay virtual reality, I think a lot of people are gonna, I think It's going to be popular. The virtual reality is going to be popular, okay? You can ask the people who buy it. I don't know how much the Morpheus is gonna cost, hopefully it comes out at, the Vibe is gonna cost a fortune, probably no one's gonna buy it. They've had a couple of really bad hardware fails, steam so I'm not so sure about that. So that's what I'm gonna say. Number two, I think No Man Sky is going to come out, and I think there's going to be a little of a backlash over what exactly that game is the scope of this, I think the perception of that is reversed to Rocket League. I think there's way too much [INAUDIBLE] and it's going to swing the other way but I do think it's going to be a great game. From what I've seen and the little I've played and in talking to the guy. I think it's going to be a good game on its own terms, but I think there is going to be a little bit of a backlash [INAUDIBLE]. And three, I bet. The division's gonna be ****. [LAUGH] That one was one of mine, that was my first one I picked when you were like think about it. And I really, really like the look of that game, but I'm kind of worried that it's going to be a weird multiplayer game, and I don't think Ubisoft has ever made a good, have they ever made a good multiplayer game? Like Assassin's Creed multiplayer I didn't ever like. What you say? Rainbow Six? Yeah, Siege. Oh Siege, yeah okay. Yeah, when they put all the. I don't know, I feel bad because I'm always down on Ubisoft. Rayman Legends? I, no. I want them to make a new Assassin's Creed with the Grow Home stuff they did. Yeah. Grow Home was so good. Grow home was brilliant. > So, I don't know. I'm gonna say that. They're all so negative though. I don't think Doom would be good either. I think Overwatch is gonna be huge. That's my fourth. He's just taking everything, man! > I'm sorry. All right, Mike you go. Sorry, I forgot that [UNKNOWN] stuff. Zelda's gonna be Wii U and x. On both. Okay. And they're gonna show it to us this year. Okay, NX isn't gonna come out this year though, let's say? No, no, no, no, I'm just saying they're gonna say, coming to Wii U, oh and NX. Yeah. [LAUGH] Are we running out of tape, we're good? Sorry. No way. At least stuff that's happening that we think is going to happen. Yeah, I'm not asking you to **** tell me like of celebrities who are gonna die. Like you can go softball on this as well if you want. I'd say there's gonna be in the next five months we'll hear about two more triple A games that are getting pushed to 2017. And- Fifty turn. Yeah. That's kind of an easy one, but- I like it. Whatever. It's fine. I'll try to have at least one of these fall through. And- [LAUGH] What else? We'll hear about the 2017 Assassin's Creed. They just announced they're not going to have a major Assassin's Creed this year. Right. Which, maybe they just wanna- it's like your playing Rocket League and you wanna go out on a win. Maybe they just said okay, consider it good. Let's take a chill for a while. Get that girl home stuff in there man. We'll hear about it and it'll be set in. India. [LAUGHS] India? Eleventh century Didn't you see that rumor? Egypt. No. The rumor on Reddit? It's in India? We're talking about Assassin's, right? Yeah, the rumor is- no, Egypt. Egypt. Egypt. Egypt, sorry. Wait, we're talking about Assassin's Creed, right? I think 11th century is way off, I think it'll be a B.C. like It'll be like 6th century B.C. That's when Egypt was cool. [LAUGH] I mean Egypt's already, yeah. Yeah, back in OG Egypt. [LAUGH] Yeah. Back with Ramses and my boys. What did you say, like 6,000 B.C.? Yeah. Like, when was it? I think it was 6th century B.C. when Egypt was at its height. Yeah. But, don't quote me on that. History man, am I right? Yeah, but they, okay, that's the problem right now. Because he says height It's like a game for [CROSSTALK] Space terrain, climbing tall buildings, and the only one is gonna be used is a pyramid and then everything else is gonna be two stories high. I don't know, I guess so. It's gonna be really weird, they're gonna have to figure out how to climb. They just figured out how to fall down buildings gracefully. Now you have to try to go up slopes and then oh, you get to the top and there's just another slope on the other side. It's all slope, man, it's. It's not smooth. No, not it's like emote. And they got that emote. And then you go in the pyramid and it's a **** Stargate and Richard D Nanis is sitting there with P Alk and he's like Let's **** go kill some Goa'uld. And then Brandon Fraser comes through a time portal with his pistols just- Oh, my God. Firing in the air. And suddenly you're in the SeaQuest DSV room with the guy and the dolphin that's got the head set and they're talking to each other. And 90s television is back. And he tells us the price for Sony VR. That's it, yeah, perfect. All right, Ed, that's a good show. How do you top that, man? That's probably gonna happen. What do you think's gonna happen? I think that Oh jeez. There's not, okay I'm just gonna go opposite of you guys. I think that envision's gonna turn out better than you think, only because our expectations are so low that it can't get any lower. Let's see I think I'm almost positive that Sony VR's gonna be cheaper than Oculus. Just because that's a thing they do now, I think. They're just gonna be like, $500, oh my God! 500! That's what they do. Take it Occulus. I'd agree that's a good one. It's so funny that they get obnoxious at $500. Get [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGH]. Or like $549.99. Oh my God we can afford a game. House just dropped the mic after saying that [LAUGH]. Free copy of 100 Foot Robot Golf or whatever they were doing. They just took out that Xbox One controller that you're supposed to get. And that's why it's the same price. Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. Oh, yeah, you've got Lucky's Tales with [UNKNOWN]. Yeah, you've got Lucky's Tales. It's not really funny. They should be like Palmer Lucky's Tales. Yeah. And just swap out the character. He's just like floating through the air like on a beach. [CROSSTALK] Do you have one? I have a last one. [CROSSTALK] I think that Final Fantasy 15 won't come out this year. Okay. Even though I think they seem they got their **** together, but man, was I burned by Final Fantasy 13. Bought a PlayStation3 for that, what a mistake. Let's see, you're right. They did do the whole taking your feedback thing, so. It's like two years, man. Can I request a fourth from you? All right. What do you think's happening with Destiny this year? Yeah, Destiny 2.0, will we see two? Oh, God, I think Destiny 2, like very possible. Okay. I think not as many DLCs And I think you're just gonna see a lot of event stuff with a lot of microtransactions. Okay. And I'm gonna be pretty sad if that is true, but it's kind of looking that way. Did you see- Did you have a fourth? No. I just I thought he might say something about a Destiny expansion. I was curious. Did you see Halo 5 has one of the packs of items you can buy is $100, real world dollars. Really? Yes. [LAUGH] [CROSSTALK] What's in it? It's, you get those packs with random items in it. There are like ten tiers now. It goes from all the way from $1 for a bronze pack to a hundred For 34 gold packs. Dude, is there some way we can figure out who the **** those people are who are buying [UNKNOWN]? That's what I want to do. Do an episode [UNKNOWN] They call them the whales. Yeah but where the **** are they beached, man? It's like. I know at least of one whale but I don't want to disclose his name but he used to work here. And he used to buy a lot of [UNKNOWN] and stuff and other stuff. I've seen him spend the money. God, I don't know who that is. There's always a way to drop money on our charity stuff. << Yeah Our people are super generous. So we got one, what did we do for extra life? We got like thirteen and a half grand this year? << Yup. So somebody over the weekend through in 467 bucks or something like that, I just got an email- << Oh after the fact. Yeah cuz apparently it's still open. It's open until January something. So I got this automated e-mail on my phone, yeah somebody just donated 400 something, I'm like what the ****. So thanks, whoever that was. That's super charitable. I wonder if there was some sort of tax write off that was coming in And they're like January 1st, doing it. [LAUGH] Queue one. Could have been some Christmas gifts. They could have saved that, and wouldn't have much more to go. Yeah, that's awesome. Thanks so much. Anyway we gotta wrap this up. I'm excited about the new lobby situation. You might stick these bad boys one, yeah you're right we did [UNKNOWN]. You might stick these bad boys on the set, we might Do something else, I don't know? We're gonna do like a check in video. I mean I need to throw it out there to see like what people want from a new show. Yeah, what we currently have is this thing, it's gonna be on the set. It's gonna be like a tighter crew. It's gonna be for an hour, then we're gonna go play video games on the stream for like 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 2 hours maybe. And then the Friday show is like all community focused, we might play games on that as well. More like take a bunch of questions, really just chew it out, and then we're going to turn it into podcasts. Well, this is definitely going to be a podcast. I don't know if this, we could probably turn this episode, might have to talk to the guys in tech. I might do that myself. Yeah. Get that RSS feed going. We might do it on this. If we don't do it on this episode, we'll do it on The ones in February. But yeah, that's being rebuilt, so yeah, we're doing it. I'm super excited. 2016, cool. 2016 yeah, it's happening. Video games are back, we're back reporting on them.
