Four flavors for Alcatel's 'cheap' smartwatch
Everyone's got a smart watch these days including Alcatel the Alcatel OneTouch Watch is its very first.
I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET here at CES 2015 in Las Vegas and I'm going to give you a brief tour.
This watch is slim and round, and it looks like a watch.
There's not just one style, but there are actually four with sort of different colors and materials.
And this is so that Alcatel can target different segments.
For example, like a more classy look with a metal band.
Was also a more sporty kind of configuration with the rubbery band and some orangey-red accent colors.
There's also white which Alcatel thinks that women will especially like.
Now the watch is using a proprietary operating system, but it will connect to Android phones 4.3 and above and iOS 7 and above.
The interface is interesting because it does have what some people call a flat tire lick, that's because the bottom portion is actually the home button, and instead of having layers of apps that you kinda drill down into, every single thing that you can do is an icon on the screen, you just kinda swipe left and right to get to what you need.
It is a little bit limited compared to some.
Like there's no voice command, but here's what you can do.
You can check out and monitor your heart rate and your sleep cycle.
There's a pedometer as well.
You can control music and also launch the camera and take pictures using the watch as a camera shutter trigger.
It is water and dust resistant like a lot of other smart watches and bands.
That means that you can.
Take it down three feet for 30 minutes, and it will still work.
Price is one of the biggest draws for the watch, it will sell for about $150 US, 99 Euros, and you can do the math from there if you live somewhere else.
The watch will be available starting in Europe first in March followed by other countries, including the US, that will be direct to consumers.
