Signal is an easy-to-use app that encrypts text messages, voice calls, attachments and group calls Wickr lets you send messages that self destruct after a set length of time.
It removes meta data from files you send, like geolocation in photos.
The secure shredder feature securely erases files sent through th app.
WhatsApp lets you verify chat that are encrypted.
Just open a chat, the tap on the name of the contact and tap encryption to verify.
Viber indicated the encryption by the grey lock icon in conversations.
There's also a desktop client with the same level of encryption.
Facebook messenger is also rolling out encrypted messaging to users later this year.
