Checking the tech in the 2020 Ford Escape
[MUSIC]
The 2014 ford escape is all new for this year and as such it comes with a bevy of standard tech let's check it out We'll start with the home screen, which is the first screen that pops up when you turn on the car.
It allows you to see not one but three things simultaneously.
This car is equipped with embedded nav so I'm able to get a small map on the left side in addition to whatever is playing on the radio on the right and just below that the status of your phone Now if you want to get to a specific page, say music or phone or nav or any of that stuff, you can click on each of the individual titles on the home screen to get there.
However, the most permanent way that you'll usually be dealing with this is on the lower dock which offers quick access to your audio, phone [UNKNOWN] and apps So we'll start diving through those tabs a little bit.
On the bottom left here we have audio, which is pretty self explanatory.
You have your AM, your FM, your HD radio, your Sirius XM if you're paying for that subscription or on the free trail membership.
Other than that you can also play music through not only bluetooth, but also the direct USB connection.
Now if your phone isn't running Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which many people do, you can still have it wired through Bluetooth to make calls.
A quick tap of the phone button on the bottom dock brings up your recent call lists, your contacts, and it lets you set a Do Not Disturb or fiddle with your text messages.
There's a lot to do in there.
Now again, if you're not using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for your navigation, and you've SPECT the car correctly you do have embedded nav in the vehicle even in the lower trims, which is a nice touch.
Clicking over to the nav tab brings up Well, on map, that's pretty self explanatory.
You can zoom in, you can zoom out, you can set it to 3D or 2D, however you want it.
What you're really interested in, that was the search button on the top left.
That leads you into an address, a POI or an intersection, really, anything that comes to mind.
If you want coffee or you know the address pf where you're going, type it in, system does the rest.
Now again, most of you might be using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and if that's the case and you have your phone plugged in the fourth tab on the dock will say Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
If you don't have anything plugged in However, there is.
This is a special kind of apps corner of sync three.
Clicking over to this tab brings up the available mobile apps for the vehicle.
Now this one comes with SiriusXM Travel Link that lets you look at traffic list or fuel prices or movie listings.
Any of that kind of usual Sirius XM stuff.
There's a couple extra secrets in here.
If you're not using ways again through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto there is ways integration with the dashboard, you're able to pull that stuff up so you still get your kind of personalized turn by turn experience without being forced to use foreign system.
That brings us to our last spot on the dock.
At the bottom right is settings which is just about the most self explanatory part of the car.
Clicking that brings up a bevy of tiles, that splits up the kind of various settings really nicely.
So you don't really have to search too hard to figure out what you're looking for.
If you need to do anything with driver assistance, what do you know?
Hit the driver assistance tab, it's the only place to turn off your traction control as far as I can find.
Otherwise you can access pretty much any part of the car, your vehicle settings, your Wi Fi hotspot, 911 Assist or Android Auto or Apple CarPlay settings, really anything you need to change in the car.
Stop right there.
And that's it for the cabin tech in the 2024 to escape.
Don't forget to head to the road show calm to not only check out our full written review but also our full review video.
