Welcome to the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec for the check of the spec inside this all new crossover.
Handling infotainment is Acura's true touchpad interface with a 10.2 inch center screen.
Since that's not a touchscreen, it's controlled exclusively by a touchpad.
The larger section of the pad is used to navigate the larger primary portion of the screen on the left.
While the smaller section is used to toggle through, Through the secondary area to the right, which displays radio, navigation, or clock information.
It also provides a quick shortcut to those menus if you want one of them pulled up on the big part of the screen.
Another neat aspect of the interface is that the controller features absolute positioning.
So similar to a smartphone, the part that you touch on the pad corresponds to what's on the screen.
So there's no annoying cursor to use or a rotary knob to turn when you're trying to get to where you want.
But my favorite thing is that Acura kept old fashioned knobs on the center stack for the volume and radio seeking.
Also like a smart phone a configurable home screen is here to play short Shortcuts to the menus used the most, or your favorite radio stations.
It takes a little time to get set up and ordered, but is great once you finally get everything placed where you want.
The other small annoyance is that the system can at times be a little slow to boot and page between different menus Other infotainment features include a stellar 16 speaker ELS audio system, navigation with real time traffic, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth and Apple Car Play.
Android Auto isn't available yet but Acura says that is on its way.
To do SAP smart devices, there are two USB ports up front and two ports on the back of the center console for rear passengers.
For safety, for collision warning with automatic emergency breaking, adaptor cruise control, wheel keeps steering as is, and a multi angle rear view camera are standard on all RDXs Also equipped on this particular A-Spec model are blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
