Carfection's top picks from the 2019 Geneva Auto Show

[MUSIC] We can do visual films on things like Ferrari and Bugatti and [UNKNOWN], but there's so much more to this 2019 Geneva Motor Show than just those. This is where we show you all that. I'm going the wrong way [MUSIC] On the Porsche stand, it's not actually a huge name but we have got this. The new [UNKNOWN] version. The nine nine two is on the new MMB platform and they're claiming obviously increased stiffness. Roof goes up and down in 12 seconds, it's obviously only be released in 4S and S models at the moment with PTK and manuals and all that sort of thing will come later. I'm not usually a fan of 911. But temporary solution so the heavier the back but doesn't get positions in wi like cars and dark blue with the cons Ceramics yellow calipers probably causing on the stand got my level over their skis on top that was goes on top. What's not to like possibly the most exciting Factory Porsche. Isn't actually on the Porsche stand it's on the KW suspension stand it's this. It's the GT2RS Club Sport. It's basically a race car. Look at the size of this rear wing, look at it. It's also showing its underwear as well because you can see the exhaust under there which always looks pretty cool. On the Audi stand, we have the Q4e-tron which is the first time we've seen a smaller segment car from Audi. Fairly obviously, it sits between the Q3 and the Q5. It's battery powered and will put out about 302 brake horsepower, naught 60 about 6.3 seconds. It looks alright. We're seeing more of these cars that actually look Feasible I think. It is all about electric really on the Audi stand this year. Over here, follow me around, snake through. We have this, which is the e-tron GT, it is a really, really good looking car. I know other people have seen it before, but first time I've seen it this and it looks as good. In the metal, as it is in the pictures. Very nice, however, there is something on the stand that's not in here, it's just over here. Into the exclusive lounge. This is the R8 Decenio, celebrating 10 years, a decade Of the Audi R8. Rather nice, isn't it? Bronze wheels. People often ask me how do I fit into cars and it's very difficult, I'm joking. We are on the Bugatti stand and we have already done a film on La Voiture Noire out on the main stand. We've come up stairs because this is a baby Bugatti. And if you bought a type 35B back in the 20s, then you could buy a half scale car for your child, and they are absolutely exquisite. They are electrically powered, it's wonderful. Anyway, now they're doing the baby Bugatti two, so if we wander over here they are doing a new version. It's a little bit [UNKNOWN] at a moment, [UNKNOWN] 3D printed it. And time to get it here for the show but I think it's a really lovely idea as you can see, so this is 75% sort of scale [UNKNOWN] as opposed to the original. But it's fantastic and it's got a new [UNKNOWN] The selection is going to be pretty quick and through different stages including [UNKNOWN] 10 Kilowatts which is pretty cool [UNKNOWN] as well just because [UNKNOWN] all the iPhone and selfies the Lamborghini stand is this This SVJ Roadster, one of 800. This particular car, this spec, is the best part of 500,000 euros, including this paint job, which is about 25,000 euros in itself, this gold with the little white pinstripes you can see around there. Does look pretty spectacular. Down force apparently is up over 40% compared to the old SV roadster. Bit of me this, it's me all over you can see it can't you. Subtle. [SOUND] Bentley should be getting a card from the Queen this year because, yes, they are 100 years old and to celebrate they have done this. Limited edition car which takes inspiration from the [UNKNOWN] 4.5 liter that [UNKNOWN] charger [UNKNOWN]. You can see the number 9 on the grill [UNKNOWN] original car. In here, that we got choice of leather on the [UNKNOWN] or [UNKNOWN] green, it's being the green [UNKNOWN] obviously You've got this turned aluminium down here. 18 karat gold that's there. The lovely [UNKNOWN] stoppers. Jaeger clock which is really, really lovely actually. I do like that bit. And then up here we have a piece of wood from the original car floating in there. [SOUND] One of the most extraordinary cars The Geneva motor show this year is on the Ginetta stand. This is the Ginetta Akula, which is apparently russian for shark, which you can sort of see why in the styling, which let's face it, is a little bit challenging, but definitely striking. It's all there for a reason because this aero means that it is only five percent off the GT three car at 100 miles an hour. Which is pretty cool. Under the bonnet, it's a naturally aspirated V8, which is very nice. You think, well, it must be a crate engine. Nope. Apparently, they machine the block in the factory. Carbon fiber panels, carbon fiber tub, 600 brake horsepower, 512, 516 pounds of torque, something around that. 708 meters. It costs ��340,000 Inside, quite a large boot. Two sets of golf clubs and the rest I'd say actually, most of the gold shop in fact. There's some [INAUDIBLE] in there. And a full FIA spent roll cage. Okay, we've got a fixed seat here. Tiny little steering wheel traction control, it feels as though certainly my H by my hips are about the same height as my heels possibly even slightly lower actually really want to go in this that's a concept car, isn't it? That is that's how you do?. 1956. It's on the Goodyear stand, called the Golden Sahara, and check out that. That's why it's on the Goodyear stand. Light up tires. [BLANK_AUDIO] On the VW stand, joining the ID family is probably my favorite one of them so far, it's the ID Buggy. The 200 [UNKNOWN] horse power, rear wheel drive. Well, apparently they will be able to do a four wheel drive one as well. 0 to 62 in about 7.2 seconds. She takes inspiration from the VW beach buggys of the 60s and 70s. Elsewhere on the stand, there is it. It's the T [UNKNOWN] R [INAUDIBLE] which is in a small SUV form, [INAUDIBLE] for an [INAUDIBLE]. It's small, small DSTV which [INAUDIBLE] seems to be quite keen on as we will discover if we will go [INAUDIBLE], and more particularly [INAUDIBLE] brand, I can't get my head around the kitty for Brian time because I think of Cupra as well and it's sort of they've done this. So this is the attacker. So the statement of intent first thing they've done is a small sporty SUV, which I'm kind of thinking if you want to do that then sure you make it like a. Minute just sort of Ford Raptor or something like that with a bit more [UNKNOWN]. Anyway they haven't, and then they've got a concept over here, which is the Cupra [UNKNOWN] which is at the top of New Yorker. This just looks like a sort of sharper version of that. What is it about small SUVs and Cupra? give us a hot hatch or sports car or something, please. [SOUND] One of the wackier cars here, but one actually I quite like, is the GFG, which is Giugiaro basically, Kangaroo. It's a sort of lift of supercars. It's got three suspension modes, race, Road and off road, going between 140 millimeters ground clearance to 260 millimeters of ground clearance, and it's obviously electric powered so motor in the front, motor in the back. 90 kilowatt an hour battery, I do quite like it I have to say. One of the most popular cars at the show, as you can see behind me is on the Honda stand. And this is the Honda e prototype, which is more from the urban EV concept that we saw a little while ago. It doesn't look quite as cool, but this is apparently about 98% ready. Range of about 120 miles, they're saying, and it's a rival for BMW i3, I suppose. By the looks of it, they're gonna sell a bucketload. This is the brand new Peugeot 208. And Peugeot has been on something of a roll recently with its styling department. It just looks right. It looks sort of cute and chunky as a hot hatch should. Well, it's not a hot hatch yet. But hopefully the GTi version It's gonna have petrol, diesel, and electric engines. The petrol engine's gonna be three cylinder turbo-charged units coming in a range of power outputs, five-speed and six-speed gear boxes plus an eight-speed auto as well. I liked the previous version to drive, I like this version even better to look at. I'm hoping it's gonna be as good to drive. Well done, Peugeot, keep at it. On the BMW stand well, there's not actually a great deal to be honest. This is about the most interesting thing I find, the 8 Series convertible, which was released at the end of last year. But this is the first time we've seen it over here in Europe. And it's pretty slick actually. Roof goes up and down in about 15 seconds. This one has some interesting options including well, there are nice apparently [UNKNOWN] demure great paint job but if you look underneath it, it's got a lot of gold metallic plate going on there and some gold wheels, so yes. Now, I was gonna say that there wasn't anything hideous [UNKNOWN] this year. [UNKNOWN] seen half of the stand. [MUSIC] On the Mercedes stand, we have this The AMG GTR Roadster. They are only 750 of them. 197 mph which is 1 mph shy of coupe, the rest of it pretty much identical. Obviously there is a little bit more weight. I'm not quite sure what to think about it. You wouldn't produce a convertible version of the GT3, so I'm not sure this makes sense. But I'm sure they will sell every single one of the 750 of them. Elsewhere on the Mercedes stand, though, probably the coolest thing is the mono block wheels on the GT four door just behind. Now, most shows are generally positive, sort of upbeat occasions, but, well, there's no denying that this year there are a few manufacturers that aren't here. Ford's not here, Volvo's not here, and Jaguar Land Rover isn't here. This is the space the JLO would normally have filled, and as you can see, there's Some sort of a restaurant but [UNKNOWN] not here [UNKNOWN] to look at. There is an outside because they full this space also with this, a wonderful exhibition of [UNKNOWN]. So here's a nice video [UNKNOWN]. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] We are on the Polestar stand now, and this is, you probably know, the spinoff from Volvo. And this is probably the Most important cars. This is Polestar 2. So this is one that will take on the Tesla model 3. We're looking at 408 [UNKNOWN] horsepower. 487 pounds-foot of torque. Yeah, it's based on the same platform as the XC40 basically. All electric. It's quite a good looking thing. It's quite understated, but also makes quite a statement. Even somehow in this gray. We are on one of my favorite stands every year at the Geneva motor show, the rough stand. This darkened corner over here. This beauty restored 901 which is actually the Geneva show car back in 1965. moving on we have got one of two restored models on the stand. This is goldfinger. Nice things for 3.4 liter engineer modern seats inside it with a Tartan on it will come back to this in a second 903 restomod over here. This is there. New Refugee T. Which is actually based on the old nine nine one Jen to GTS, but we power up lifted to 515 brake horsepower and again rough just do it. So well, the only their own wheels on it a little ducktail spoiler on the back such a cool looking car but not as cool as the CTR. Anniversary, which is celebrating the yellow bird so, in the back we got a twin turbo 3.6 liter motor 700 brake horse power, 710 actually. Weighs about 1200 kilos lighter than the GT2RS by some margin. Look at it, it's so cool but it gets even cooler when you look under the skin and then this is where we come back Around here and you see all of this carbon chassis. This is why it's so light. Come and have a look at the suspension on the front, the [UNKNOWN] suspension. It's just beautiful, isn't it? We say it every year, but this year we're gonna go out to the factory and drive a [UNKNOWN] if you want to [UNKNOWN] shouting [UNKNOWN] I'm gonna go and do it, I'll drive that. [MUSIC] [UNKNOWN] is the brand new Lexus RC F Track Edition, now they've made various updates [UNKNOWN] standard RC F. It's all that little geeky things that Lexus actually do really, really well Stuff that made the LFA so cool. This track edition 556 great horse power from that wonderfully naturally aspirated five-liter V8. We've got a carbon fiber bonnet, carbon fiber roof, fixed rear wing now also carbon fiber and we'll see as it comes around here, titanium exhaust All that adopt to same string, the same twin sixteens 70 kilos of load has more importantly forced on the wheels and [UNKNOWN] brakes means that lost 25 kilos from the unstrung mass. A Tesla estate, it's quite good, it's bit like a sort of Jaguar XF estate, she's quite a handsome beast. Perhaps it's the British racing green that reminds me of Jaguar. At Pagani they're celebrating 20 years of Zonda with this Chassis 001, which a lot of the testing and actually the crash testing as well, they've restored it, rebuilt it to well, the pinnacle of its glory really. And do you know what? Out of all the cars here, despite the fact we've got cars with basically four times the horsepower of this, This is the original with about 450 brake horsepower from the 6-liter V-12.
