Culture
[MUSIC] Greetings, citizens of the Internet. Welcome to Tomorrow Daily, the best geek talk show in the known universe. I'm Ashley Esqueda and, I know, it's not a talk show. These are our miniature episodes until our beautiful, fabulous, amazing Spectacular set has finished construction here in lovely Burbank California. But enough of that business, let's hit the headlines. [MUSIC] Adobe showed off Some pretty impressive technology this week after Adobe Max conference, and it means that someday, you might be able to get a picture perfect shot at those touristy locations without all those pesky people in them. An Adobe engineer took the stage to demonstrate the technology which is called monument mode. First, he took a picture of the Max logo with 2 presenters walking around in a shot. Not such a great picture. But then, he turns on Monument mode, and asks them to walk around in front of the maps logo again. This time, he takes a picture in real time with the presenters completely removed from the shot, as if by magic. Adobe isn't 100% clear on exactly how the technology is powered, But we're guessing that they have some sort of algorithm that detects motion plus maybe a continual imaging of the spot you want to take a picture of, so that the software can fill in the blanks when it starts erasing people from your shop. This is an early concept so we probably won't be seeing this in our smartphones anytime soon but it is a really exciting thing to check out. How monument mode works and think about the possibilities of getting those perfect shots while you're on vacation in a special place with somebody you care about. And of course, if you're gonna go on a futuristic vacation with your futuristic monument mode on your future phone You're gonna need some futuristic shoes to walk around, and Adidas is now getting into the 3D printing game, so they might be able to help you out. Futurecraft 3D, is a concept, where a customer would have the ability to get a fully customizable, 3D printed midsole for their sneakers. Of course, custom footwear already exists, and at a premium price, but this would take individualization of your foot wear, to the next Level. It would tailor every aspect of your shoe to your specific needs. Adidas asked us to imagine jogging on a treadmill at an Adidas store for a little bit and then instantly generating the perfect running shoe. Based on your foot and your gait, much like Monument Mode, Future Craft 3D is still in a conceptual prototype phase. So unfortunately again, you're not going to be seeing this coming to a shoe near you in any time in the near future. But Adidas does seem to be committed to the project. So we might see it someday. Okay. So we're on our future vacation, and we have ordered Future shoes. But we gotta have them delivered and if you're in Singapore it might be done by drones. SingPost is Singapore's official mail service and they recently announced it had completed testing for drone delivery system. And they also hoped that they can expand that project into official SingPost service Some day. Now the test consisted of a five minute long test flight in which a drone carrying a t-shirt and a letter took off from a company warehouse, zipped over a river, and located a SingPost employee who then took the t-shirt and the letter for final delivery of the package. Now the drone's pilots say it can carry up to half a kilogram weight-wise, and travel a little over two two kilometers in distance. Once again, this a prototype concept. It's not anything that's going to go into service any time soon. SingPost says there's a lot of safety issues that have to be worked out and, of course, laws and all those other things that we have to work on before we can have official drone delivery happen. So. I'm really sorry that we're not quite in that future yet and that everything on today's show is hypothetical, but I promise you that our Into It has a piece of technology that exists right now that you can enjoy. [THEME MUSIC] Producer Logan and I have the same Into It this week. We are into Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime. This is a theater experience that we have never really seen before. You got the AMC Prime side, which has these plush leather seats with recliners. And then you have the Dolby cinema side, which include the Atmos speakers which gives you this amazing sound experience and then on top of that. They use Dolby vision technology. Now, Dolby vision is two 4k laser projectors. And that means, whatever the film maker intended for you to see color wise, that's what you're going to see on the screen. And it was gorgeous. All of the colors were super crisp and beautiful. And, yeah, it was incredible. But. I'll let some of the people from Dolby and AMC also explain why you should check out the tech. You go in and you walk in and you see the environment. The back lit red speakers, the beautiful recliners. So before you've even started the movie you can tell it's something special. In a typical digital projector, you get a contrast ratio between black and white of around 2000 [UNKNOWN], very good. Dolby Vision presents a contrast between black and white that's over a million to one. The black is really black, the white is really white. It's stunning. Unfortunately, there's a little tiny catch. There are only eight of these theaters currently in the United States and a handful abroad. So if you live internationally, you might actually be able to check this out, but You gotta find a theater first. California, we only have one and it's in Burbank. So we got really lucky and we were able to check it out. But AMC and Dolby do plan to build 50 of these theaters. by 2018. So that's not too shabby. Anyway, if you get a chance to check out Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime, we highly recommend it because we really dug it. And thanks to AMC and Dolby for inviting us to check out the new technology. Alright, guys, let's talk about your pictures. Today's photographer of the day is Michael, who took this picture with his Huawei p7. He writes us an email and he says, "Hello Ashley and Logan, I took this pictures with my Huawei p7 at the annual Expo Game City in Vienna, Austria and immdietly had to think of you guys when I saw this big Vault Boy standing in front of the Vienna City Hall." Absolutely love the show. You're not good humans, you are the best. Your fan since day one, Michael. No, no, Michael, we're not the best humans. You're the best human for sending in your picture. We love Fallout, obviously. We're really excited that it's coming on the 11th of November. It's gonna be the best day of our life. Until 405 comes out of course. If you want to send your phonetography, send us your picture, what device you took it on, tell us a little story about it and give us permission to use it on the show. You can email all that junk over to tomorrow@cnet.com. If you want to find us on the internet we're tomorrow daily, I'm @Ashleyesqueda on twitter, producer Logan @Loganmoy And of course, we will be back next week with a brand new docket of science fact, meaning science fiction, blow up in your face in all the best ways. But until then, begin human. We'll see you guys next time. Bye! [SOUND]
