>> Like most browsers Internet Explorer 8 is deficient, which is why it has add-ons to expand its functionality, but sometimes you may want to get rid of those add-ons even if just temporarily. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com I will show you how IE8 has made it easier to disable and enable your add-ons. I've got the Google Toolbar running in IE8 here. Notice the X next to the toolbar. Just click that X if you want to disable the toolbar. A list of related add-ons that rely on this will show up, so you know if disabling this is going to break a bunch of other things. Once you've made your selections, press the disable button, the add-on is gone. What if you want it back? Fickle! Go to tools and select manage add-ons. Select the type of add-on, in this case a toolbar, scroll down until you find your toolbar and press enable. IE8 will suggest re-enabling those related add-ons you disabled earlier, press enable again, then press close. If the toolbar doesn't show up as it did not for me go to view, select toolbars and select the Google toolbar. For some reason enabling didn't make it viewable for me. If you want to browse through all the add-ons available for IE8 visit ieaddons.com. I'm Tom Merritt, CNET.com.
