Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3820T
-I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here with the Acer TimelineX.
And we first saw Acer TimelineX line at some point last year and at that time, it was something very notable because these systems were thin, they were relatively full powered, and they had pretty decent long battery life and you haven't really seen that combination of features together before.
Now a year and some months later, the Acer TimelineX still has all the features, but there are other thin 13-inch laptops available now,
so, its not quite as special or as unique as it used to be.
In this particular TimelineX it's got a standing 13-inch screen, you've got an Intel Core i3 processor that gives you a pretty standard mainstream level of performance.
The keyboards on this Acer system, I've always like them a bit of a matter of taste.
The keys are a little bit different from your average island style keyboard and that the faces of the keys varies a little bit larger, a little bit wider.
It takes a little bit of time to get used to the exact placement if you are used to other keyboards,
but once we did, I really liked it a lot.
The touch pad is fairly standard, but it includes a multi-touch gestures that we haven't seen in a lot of other laptops.
Once of them is chiral scrolling.
And you are gonna start seeing this on more and more laptops.
That's where instead of using a finger at the side to scroll or 2 fingers to scroll like in this Apple model, you find the right spot there on the corner and from there you draw a spiral with your finger and that lets you scroll up and down the page as if you were turning a jog wheel and the nice part is
you don't have to like go down to the bottom of the touch pad and start again at the top in order to continuously scroll.
You are not doing that kind of rowing scroll movement.
Before into the design wise you're gonna find this.
This is kinda similar to laptops like Toshiba Portege R705 or the ASUS U33Jc all 13-inch relatively thin, relatively full powered laptop.
In this particular version, you don't get an optical drive in something that's ridiculously thin like maybe the MacBook Air or the Dell Adamo XPS that's kinda forgivable.
I think this guy is a little bit too big to really pull that off.
Battery life on the other hand is 4 hours and 20 minutes in our test and that's actually pretty good for 13-inch of any thickness.
So, they still got that strong battery life going.
If you use it judiciously should get you through an entire day.
I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Acer TimelineX.
