2019 Chevy Blazer charts a more stylish crossover course
[SOUND]
Well, the cat's out of the bag.
Chevrolet is bringing the Blazer back.
But unlike the last body and frame model that we last saw in showrooms in 2005 The new 2019 Blazer will sit on a unibody platform.
The five passenger Blazer will slot nicely between the Equinox and the three row Traverse in the Chevy lineup.
But unlike those relatively plain Jane looking models, the Blazer features a design that makes a bit more of a statement.
To make that statement, designers looked to the Camaro for a little inspiration, with the Blazer boasting a wider stance, big grille, skinny headlights Sculpted sheet metal, high belt line, and strong rear haunches.
Depending on trim level, wheels range from 18 inches on the base blazers to available 24 inches on the sporty RS trim and top shelf premier models.
The sleeker and meaner looks for the RS come courtesy of blacked out exterior accents while premier rears chrome for a more premium appearance.
The [UNKNOWN] design cues continue inside with a center stack that looks like it was plucked directly from a sports car, with familiar climate controls and round air vents.
Different models get different trim and color accents.
In the RS's case, it's accented in red.
And in the Premier, it's chrome.
Other cab features include a sliding rear seat that when folded, opens up 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
An optional panoramic roof, and hands free power lift gate.
For tech the latest Chevy milling system handles infotainment with an 8 inch touch screen 4g lte wifi hot spot.
Apple car play, Android auto and offers plenty of smart device charge options with a wireless charging pad and up to 6 usb USB ports.
Available safety technology includes adapted cruise control and a rear camera mirror.
The new Blazer gets two engines, a 2.5 liter four-cylinder with 193 horsepower, and 188 pound feet in torque is standard, while those looking for more grunt can spring for a 3.6 liter V6 with 305 horses and 269 pound feet.
That offers an estimated tow capacity of 4500 pounds Both engines work with a nine speed automatic transmission in front or all wheel drive configurations.
The new Chevy blazer will go on sale on early 2019 to battle it out with the likes of the Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Nissan Mirage.
No official pricing details are available but a base price tag in the low $30,000 range similar to its direct competitor seems like a good bet
