13 years in the making: Nissan finally brings a new Armada
[MUSIC]
Interesting fact.
The first generation Armada was around for 13 years.
In the automotive world, that's a freaking eternity, which makes the debut of the new second generation model a much welcomed sight.
The big brute follows in the footsteps of its Infinity QX 80 cousin and moves from the old Titan pickup truck's platform to the Nissan [UNKNOWN] foundation, keeping with traditional body on frame construction.

The new platform is stiffer with thicker side rails, helping the new Armada tow up to 8,500 pounds when properly equipped while also helping to improve handling and ride comfort.
Overall, the new model is little over an inch longer than its predecessor and a touch wider, but it's more than two-inches lower in height.
Looking at the exterior reminds me an awful lot of the QX-80, which obviously makes sense.
According to a Nissan spokesperson, everything from the eight pillars back is shared with the Infiniti, which isn't a bad thing because the Armada looking like its more luxury oriented cousin probably plays in its favor.
There are some parts exclusive to Nissan, such as the front and rear fascias, the evolution grille, and the boomerang-style LED daytime light.
The interior layout will also remind you of the Infiniti with its overall layout.
A Bose audio system, navigation, bluetooth phone, heated front seats, and a push-button starter system are standard.
Optional features include predictive forward collision warning, remote start, adaptive cruise control, and a rear seat entertainment system.
Unfortunately customers looking for Apple CarPlay and Android auto capabilities will have to wait until the 2018 model year before they arrive in the Armada.
Power comes from a new 5.6 liter direct injected V8 engine that produces 390 horsepower and 401 pound feet of torque.
The engine bolts to a seven speed automatic transmission With two wheel and four wheel drive versions being offered.
The 2017 Armada will hit showrooms mid this year with official pricing information coming closer to the on sale date.
The previous Armada started at about $39,000.
And if the new model sticks in that ballpark, you're almost certainly looking at a bargain QX80.
Because that starts at $63,000.
But the best news of all is that we have a new Armada.
Yeah, it's sort of familiar, but it sure beats the dinosaur it replaces.
