The EPA's doubles fuel economy by 125. BMW -- -- car Nissan complains about electric car review. And drivers think about stopping. I'm -- -- Arctic live Wayne Cunningham misses estimates article -- but Thursday the fourth of August 2011. Here in the studio -- Antuan Goodwin and administering on the board Brinkley is. Somewhere or -- news. About. Traveling I think he's exploring the -- -- technical and ethical and neverland answer it. So we get a story last week actually we talked about it a little bit on last week's show when their did not debating these any regulations for new cafe regulations. And last Friday after the show last week to actually published. The final. Regulations of the EPA is going to in force. They got agreements on all the about and with all the -- auto makers on this all the major automakers. And so the -- fuel economy by 20/20 five to -- a says that corporate average fuel economy for for fleet should be. 54 point five miles per gallon that's not really surprised number that was that number was bandied about a lot in -- -- some organizations want a little bit. Tire and auto makers you know agreed on this one eventually. So that that's what we're looking at and that's actually. Almost double what the current campaign -- So you can expect your cars to get much better fuel economy by 20/20 five if this plan goes forward it's gonna save us -- a lot of money in. You know make -- -- import up a lot less foreign oil plants that they say that. Oh what was it. It. Have our our -- foreign oil imports. And and this plan actually come in a couple stages. They're looking at down the current rules call for 35 point five miles per gallon by 2016. For -- -- -- cafe. And then they're gonna -- about evaluating and have a couple of like a mid term sort of evaluation period. To see if auto makers can actually hit that 54 point -- real number -- that's realistic and and. It's still sort of a moving target it that targets a goal it set but it's still kind of a moving target Mino for years from now they look at as -- that -- -- It's not W would be what is it possible -- reduce the number the point though -- back and make it sorry. Yeah a lot of it will be I mean one reason why they have as mid -- buyers enter it is because twenty point five is it's a -- -- fifteen years from now. So the idea is that yet. Circumstance could change. -- -- economies seem really bad and the carmakers can't afford that research to get these new technologies in place. Declined by -- I think Paris to decline by then and I personally think that with electric cars electric -- has raised that the -- is so much for a company. You know you put a couple of electric cars -- -- and they're getting a hundred miles per gallon equivalent men and data that should. Very positively contribute to that. -- numbers so -- for. With that I think that 54 point -- should be realistic. About -- so on the and there's the treaty -- and knows the average is actually. Averaged and we saw the formula last week and it's a lot of functions infractions on couple fractions and so it's not just you know He is for example -- having belief in their fleet you know I think the number of -- fell. Will directly impact that so we may start seeing more -- not just more of a push rod makers to get electric cars -- and actually get these electric cars into. Driveway. Oh yeah yeah and there -- incentives to your and one thing about these new rules is the EPA's said. That they're willing to do a lot of incentives. With the auto makers about consumers as well TU -- the exam. To get up to that level so we didn't concede tax credits tax rebates that that kind of thing -- on a consumer level and then with the company's you know they might. Contribute money for researcher loans for research. And etiquette you maybe a violent it. By when He suddenly get to something by whenever says -- -- to Somalis -- to. I'd it once in my life seen about 11. Daewoo and one -- in early ninety's like islet like you know one system like that -- at. They're not around anymore. In this market men as they suited up for Aston Martin -- that -- -- they should say by bandage yet six. The -- in. Ireland and it's more expensive in need of current assets -- On the subject of electric cars though -- -- -- enough last Friday BMW also revealed. This is this is pretty -- is that they revealed the to you. Electrified. Cars. They're going to be really seen under their new brand which is just I Ortiz but. -- -- Sediment -- because they showed off the -- -- photos and some details on how they're gonna work are the I three in the high eight. Three looks a lot -- CIA actually looks a lot like the -- Active efficiency concept that was revealed -- -- yeah -- of these cars are based on yes on the models they've been previously shown. And data I three is actually a your city car. -- -- -- but -- that area added that I think if that's a pure electric gas city car range of about a hundred miles. That kind of thing and damn. Don't -- -- -- -- within the standards electric cars today. Now one thing about it is that now it's got these cool -- I think that's production to -- -- I think that's what they're anticipating for production I don't know if this is metallic concept at this point. I mean its -- in interest in looking marketed production there's a lot of looks like transgenic animals and it's lot of complex body work that you know in -- very angry looking feet -- there's a lot going on man don't. I'm not sure how they're gonna pull off that that clear -- with lights embedded -- it. It's cool and production. Well one thing about this -- though that's very different than most modern cars is. It's got a lot of carbon fiber and it uses that BMWs and really pushing cover entire production and running at the costs down. So the guys three uses a lot of carbon Byron its body structure so now maybe they can get away with these crazy. In a transparent sides and and -- this wacky stuff. I'm here now is that the the the I eight in the Mission Impossible Traylor who had CNET top workers opt out of in front of like a -- -- thing. Or is it I think I -- tilted the the reworked I three or the older active efficiency. And I have not seen that that the new trailer and a new Mission Impossible trailer. Are operative movies on -- that you're gonna. And so too is -- okay yeah I gotta take a look at that and -- -- -- -- -- in the middle and trailer. Accident. The I a guy I -- c'mon this is the bigger more performance oriented car of the size series -- it's not a pure electric it's actually a hybrid. And Debian that He says I think you can get about twenty miles range -- -- electric power in the -- go to the gas and and this of the wants us to view photos or to sixty in five seconds or something like that. Only time that death via -- lower than that. Yet they should administer electric it may be a little faster a T a four point eight cents area and fuel economy seventy point one miles per deal the end -- -- a lot of -- -- of guys that aren't on there but I mean it's interesting that there actually talk about me that -- actually. Talking about making. Well I think they're pretty I think and of his pretty far along. The production plans for these vehicles -- they definitely are getting into this -- -- game and they're saying the I three will launch in 2013 so you couple years from now now means we should be seen. You know. -- in the near production. Models a next year and the IE eight will be 2014. -- -- deal a lot of what we're here in about the -- -- is you know it just clicked in my hands reminding me of mr. karma. Which has a lot of BMW DNA in it because of its designer -- So it'll be interesting to see these two bits that it's when -- -- you know if they -- -- the market and and then we looked -- well lit. What I'm interested in this whole like -- WW having the separate high brand I mean are they gonna like. Not have that there is gonna like many -- -- not gonna have the BMW name on -- or you can walk into like and I dealership but it looked like there around the badges on the Clinton and edit their misery there. -- Mission Impossible trailer -- so quake at the events. Edited in the trailers released you know like a trailer super jump -- now our interest -- you see the cards used -- species might you know you don't really get a good look at the vehicle I'm pretty sure that -- the guy He got the -- three -- -- Yeah -- -- of the items one and it was the that the concept. Meant that was unveiled earlier this year. Right or. That's the a little bit of a rolling model. For the movie. That's a legitimate -- be in the -- to -- out there with via. Market where -- new vehicle definitely. Yes yes I am pretty -- -- in the beginning in this business and the you know electric car that's been seen what they can bring to the table as they have such an engineering and yet. I'm interested to see if in -- the cross pollination there's never going to be and IE eight and -- in my left at. What -- you gonna call Alan monster and in my eight cool that's a motor sports -- way it me or there's -- either can be in my five who yet. I -- -- MI. Not to be confused with British Secret Service. -- well and along the -- on the electric -- thing actually this is. Nissan now -- you cover the story Nissan is expanding their -- At the evidence yes they're -- released for the -- right so shortly after -- -- launched there was and and iPhone. I -- app that basically allows you to do things like. Keep tabs on -- -- battery charge state is. How long can take your -- it's -- you can do things like turn on the climate control system remotely so that. You don't have to run your conditioner while you're driving. You can run it off for the grid -- increased range and they've just come out with apps for Android and Blackberry Mercury Nissan leaf owner. And you and injury vulnerable expert on kind of a no brainer just download -- -- episodes -- But it does a lot of really cool things and if you're just interested in the Nissan -- maybe you don't -- -- I want play around with the -- -- a demo mode and -- the OnStar acted in when it launched last year. So you can download it for free play around within. Maybe which analysts now believe it when you -- on the bar. Just an acute sixth let you know my car's charging right now that it. I -- the environment and it's never superior. Technical. And -- -- forcing -- It's just lost it with this -- That it can operate -- -- It's -- that that that. Well chosen model solar -- model for the appears to be in tiger but it out and believe that -- it. The but visitors -- -- obviously you're not forced to have an iPhone if you have an -- color brightness and. In an and it runs over the car -- system. Which is kind of built into every week at the automatic systems to the fleet is always connected to the Internet over a -- -- three G connection. So wherever your car -- -- phone out and see what's happening with it -- -- at the charge. -- it's really cool -- good way to keep Tampa is not as full featured as the focus electric app that was demoted CES this year that. Like a powerhouse and a do anything which are parcel -- -- but I mean in the -- -- out yet. So there's that. -- this -- -- what's really interesting aspect of the electric cars to be says. Electric cars from out. From the outset are becoming just connected -- -- -- lot of it's a deal with energy management and all that it's good to have that connected to the Internet seeking. Monitor that -- -- charging time. I'm yellow of these you know they have the schedules. So you when you plug it up it may not necessarily drawing -- may just be waiting for. The U the electricity get cheap and maybe charge between 2000000 -- -- band or whatever bit cheap you know power is but you know maybe pull your phone out. You see you've only got twenty miles of -- that you need to go somewhere work you can -- -- Biden and go and initiate that charging. A couple extra cents per kilowatt hour but then actually have the rates to need. Yet really convenient to be -- -- that. Yet you don't have had to sit in their -- all the time of -- has yet to decide in advance -- -- -- you can just pop down to the charger and in most cases and Phillip in five minutes you have with the forethought and so this gives you'll get more power. Yet it takes some planning if they got -- and Dahlia -- extending -- across the ice is pretty easy to develop these apps you want to develop the iPhone app. You've got the interface graphics you get the look the design and intercepted -- Yeah yeah underpinning. Leo and be surprised if we -- windows phones -- and maybe webos versions in the future. I'm thumping about. HP webos phone fees when they -- Linden felt. As. -- nature of lieutenant eco. News at the very thoughtful looking away that one out out of it and decide which platforms to go and in -- and and -- -- and Android and get around it like the owner of everybody that walks in the dealership -- -- India. At. -- an -- survey you'll well you know it's one of the things greatly every week on Andrea. -- when administering markets here -- the data is out there -- you now. And and it's you know and rated category really. And I mean old Apple still has -- defective as far as. App makers and that what is the breakdown that I mean but it but it was hired He would -- -- so I iPhone first. Android -- depends on whether you're talking worldwide others -- North America and I'll worldwide I think -- just if opinion about it of the market mean 48. And the North American market numbers are -- different. Yes I usually it telling them immediately that is. Is that Windows 7 how much of I mean is it of the junker is a small it's a pretty small yet right now they're not a ton of devices. Due to Begin with and then -- -- -- coming into the market deliberately especially -- -- -- -- on the tail end of you know -- years to buy -- dominant than the and in. Chris blackberries pretty substantial -- -- a lot of as He lot of people bikers as -- estimates -- substantial damage that at at. Not so smart Margaret and -- -- at that at. But it here is another news story that hotel window of this week. If -- that. It seems -- and it's -- top gear goes out and does some crazy segment criticizing attire usually electric power. Which they did this time they did last Sunday excellent. Think -- it to -- -- Nissan leaf out for a drive. Actually took me some without her drive. And the Peugeot ion which is actually just a really bad version of the Mitsubishi I. Added Jeremy Clarkson -- -- James -- driving the Peugeot. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- But they ran out of Jews in Lincoln in the show and had defiant look for a place to recharge in the -- any place. And -- well. -- I tried to get to -- a boat dock which had opening chargers but. According to the long enough and -- the other -- push to a university. Where some helpful students opened up a window and let them run their. Towards their -- or night at the university. -- but Nissan says that was that was untrue. It didn't happen. -- -- -- It's kind of the weird kind of unspoken thing about a year if everybody news that. That stuff state -- dramatized it set up in such -- -- that it's interesting to watch. Nobody I mean top gear wouldn't be popular that -- if it were three guys driving around in cars and is being. You -- boring about it yet -- here's belief. Here it is if it's got high production values and and some that production means scripting a lot of the segments this is actually an article notes flowing around a while ago where one of via producers of top your Internet a lot of work goes in the making -- look like bumbling -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Project if the order of the image -- -- interesting -- -- -- -- of -- -- every week yet but in this really where you go from buying advice. -- listeners interested in really conceded bad again either oh or an aero -- -- Don't they they got this sort of and mechanic on a similar -- awful with Tesla they did some thing in and in this case Nissan came back and said look. And we're just as we're talking about this before the -- sends data. You know it's connected to the data and that pretty error when a Nissan executive vice president. Got the data from this particular car loans and notice that when they left the strip they only 40% -- We gave them the -- with a full charge. And then women at the Lincoln they currently programs -- costs until the -- it's completely deaf ear aches and and so. Sun is gonna complain -- little about that topped here they basically said look we're just trying to show on -- and those and there's -- we're trying to show what happens on our. Monica -- Alec it's too slippery slope between being interesting and having some -- and maybe you know taken. Molina have a little fun at the expense of the auto makers but -- -- you know -- to get to the point we -- enemy and that in it's clearly not. Real in the whole concept of driving around in circles. Just to drain the battery I mean -- lot. And they didn't really show that a and in the in the top tier segment they didn't show that the car will tell you look you've got. When He miles laughter you know they did make some reference to how many miles -- -- left but you you know you're supposed to do something about it and it can also -- like we're charging stations are and as -- intended to the story actually -- -- solace today is so they went all over Lincoln looking for a place to charge their cars didn't find anything. I Nissan actually -- there -- news register now that Nissan actually has -- -- So they're going to install. -- -- -- charging spla spot in Lincoln. It's not that next time the -- -- -- while an excuse. They're gonna go back to -- and -- threat of fines and other placement you know Miller on their onto the next that there. -- the next day but one expenditures in about this is they do they -- that Peugeot ion thereto. They should getting charged up but they didn't start running out and use so if you're looking at and think alike and -- -- -- -- the better car. Human -- computer and it'll allow -- doesn't run out of electricity a better get that. -- it didn't. If it actually is just a reed -- -- BCI. That it -- if you're sorry. It's. You're gonna -- on a car -- that deadline. Frozen paint on these it's pretty stripped down and they mentioned in the so actually it doesn't have navigation and and have surprised an agreement it rally drew -- -- -- I -- -- -- -- it -- -- really wanna come down on it as much as many Clarkson to suck normally. Let's see you and also state farm in moving along here a state farm. And a different segment to state farm is. They're gonna -- and be competing with stuff -- stuff. -- weird weird and -- even in somatic market. Now well they are going to be because. There they're out partnering with -- -- automatic switches. That's automatics sort of a back -- -- provide services to Mercedes-Benz and the couple of other companies that provide a sort of one source -- addicts supplier. And that what they're doing forum. For state farm is creating this device and that you can -- here your visor of your your car. And this device will. Allow various different services and so if you sign up with this. Service with state farm. It -- to pay -- there is at two levels of service. Yet to subscribe to get to pay a either six bucks a month after the basic service or -- bucks a month forum. The more advanced service. And them see what the what of the basic service to the basic service just. And you get vehicle diagnostics. Your fuel economy. Carbon -- reports. Canceling of the driving risk this assessment -- the yeah yeah. And they also stolen vehicle location so that that's pretty cool. Probably yes you have to go to the at twelve about twelve dollar a month through -- -- nine per month to get to the emergency roadside assistance in the response like if you crash. And it'll automatically call operator and they are -- okay and -- emergency services. Like that should be at least. I would think so -- that saving your life a little bit more important. Yeah and vehicle diagnostics. -- -- I really wonder about this and and that there what is a lot of I think if -- things about it that it I'm not sure I would sign up for the service running have to pay for a new thing in him. But so state farm also is has this and -- C conceived program -- thought you where. So they can monitor your driving with this device and if they think we're pretty safe driver they can cut your rates up to you what is the -- here and 20% as when I heard yet of what -- percent. Or between three and putting them all off for the new policy. -- -- -- and apply yeah definitely needed. I I really wonder about that like yeah. -- -- is it if you're. Tuning around as it is -- gonna be like -- editor at a -- knows you and dominance in the mall -- And I think it. Not covered a student's gonna -- -- operator getting a lot of nice letter saying you're rates have gone up by 20%. We've allowed -- -- your hard to monitor. Everything yet they feel a little bit of a conflict of interest there I think. And I think -- -- Just because you know movies insurance company. Looking in on which are doing -- and I think they're kind of it's a -- insert a bit of a Trojan horse -- you give you this service and -- all these these often think that you need but what -- actually in it for them is I think. They get to look in on -- and potentially. Make money make more money out of you. Yeah both through the service and through assessing your driving -- mean they make the promise of we can reduce your rates by 20% of you traveling ingrained that how many people are actually gonna. In. What -- what I wanna think when I'm thinking about the devices one can you turn it off. -- at that unique -- and -- -- because it just posted by either hostile legal means. Bursting with. Analysts I didn't know it would it look just like speakerphone a media card but they just Bluetooth speakerphone. -- -- It'll be sold on the street -- -- Getting stolen vehicle tracking part of it may not be that useful. Now I'm thinking -- so my car is. I don't drive agreements because you know drive the cars were reviewed a work in millions of Francisco so -- lot of public transit. So -- corsets and its parking space for weeks on and now when I do take it -- and you know lots of times it's just for some fun -- around the mountains or something like that. I wonder why would you wanna leave nursing home when I -- on these types of drives thank -- -- infinitely. Electromagnetic steel and -- it and it'll let dad for an accident. Years and islands off the grid. Well if you want to potentially save some money here plenty here. Editor in -- nausea boosted -- it dealt with in the state -- Thing and that's gotten services on -- could be useful but then again them -- -- Yet they're not directly tied to years and -- are also adds that -- -- thing for vehicle. Which you can actually -- -- services careful when up the whole package but a lot of package in this. It's gonna add on review their -- Massive review here at the -- is pretty day. Of Frankfurt in the next big -- -- coming up and it's coming up quick having -- spread there were restore and see -- commandment says. Yeah about a month and a half away at this point to well medalist -- Yet and citizens some auto makers are getting a jump on that preview and stuff and yet we just -- just released photos and some details about their CX five. -- vehicle which is a small crossover slots in under the CX seven. Which is got a nice to see am glad to see -- coming up with a vehicle in that space. You know and CX seven isn't big but -- be nice vehicles. Just a small five -- some cargo room. As slick VW -- one's eyes exactly or I mean this is based on the -- So it should be up and put -- I would -- Yeah I Yelp bug similar size but I think that the -- may be different because the nice thing about this car of the ceasefire visit. Actually shows -- a lot of new technologies. That. Mazda is gonna watch in the market and there are gonna. Find their way across their line up. And this is just such an important shot in the arm for this company -- Because they've been -- you know we've seen the cars have been coming out with throughout the last like five years and they just so -- lagging behind everybody else. And now this one's gonna come out on the market it's gonna have that direct injection engine. A new more efficient transit slot lot of the technologies -- -- -- -- proficiency so's you'd get in a decent power but did gas mileage to. Yeah I'm also seeing that there's a new interior of the -- some -- dashboard electronic. Which is something that -- -- really Canon needs updating -- right now the best thing they've got going that 3.5 inch screen that in the month the three. Let's -- -- like that at school. -- -- -- -- Yet it's not an over and it's not a huge you know yeah cabin tech piece but it's a nice in. Lets it integrate a small map system here with the car I do like of -- -- but yet not. A big piece of technology -- this looks like a -- on. -- head unit with a controller and everything they didn't say anything about this in their their press -- as about the scar but. There's like -- -- -- although idyllic ministers are DC they've kind of are a lot of buttons on Napster and real. -- eleven -- will end on the dashboard and on Paper says that that's born there rotary controller. A lot of -- I mean maybe there are taken them the news from the accurate. Look interior design. Register -- to buttons on there buttons. -- the editors in with the rotary controller on the console. I mean that's kind of controller it's been used by a lot of companies. You know Mercedes-Benz -- and a BMW. -- but -- on the around the LCD they actually have two -- to like radio -- one would be returning and one of -- volume I suppose. Which is interesting because those other companies -- -- and BMW don't put those knobs on anymore. Assuming I guess that are not like -- Yet not my first I guess when I saw that knob down on the center console of that with all wheel drive -- -- -- deflect there's no way. And -- Chris -- Yeah -- and other cars. Another across the relief. Really that you get in there and play around with -- -- that -- I don't think there's be some in the start on their smallest. That's a good possibility that I mean yeah I can be reading that wrong it might be. It could be some gotta train controller although yet doesn't -- -- having it done before so. Killing at least be one pictured are -- -- -- -- storage for -- -- -- controller old pictures on the -- we've ever seen brag and they -- union and almost looks like that simply that they might use the CBT says. And it does look like -- some buttons around that knob is well or that dial as well so. M I it's probably in an appeasement or its interest in speculated on -- things and news. That Apple pixels -- there yet as not a lot to see here but we'll we'll get to see more -- the Frankfurt. Please get you know into the sky aren't really really check -- out we think the new look and use them off the face. Itself it's good actually I liken it Sam. -- -- of the mission this earlier and months and yet it's. Back can be used it to them. Have a backed leader in -- see it in one of the shots but it's sort of strangely bulbous almost Kirby He. And yet it it's got some have two which is nice. As far as but the real -- of the car though. I'm -- like it depends -- like what part of the front in them focusing on. I'm seeing collects them BMWs. And seeing some Mitsubishi Lancer in there. As a lot of different things going on there but I think it's. None of their crossovers really have to goofy grin but if visited and harbinger of what the future months is on looks like I think a lot of people -- Be happy to see that. -- -- -- Yes yes isn't -- of them have via. Sort of almost mustache Omnia I like them current Mazda three and those -- com but it does have the -- -- does have an expression. Yet. It looks. -- believable. With a little. Happy. At -- -- injury Smith. Little piece disgruntled reluctant to Ricardo is economic -- numbers you read it at that that's. Yet that may not work for them earlier in the long. And that line from there it is -- -- I'm in a record that little bit and just. -- -- and an ever recover some of your -- Speaking of suvs. Guess you know going in the direction of memory and a little theater. With crossovers. Basically is looking to -- -- to the SUV market. Yet this is just a little it's not even really a really fully baked idea here meant to I guess the Bentley CEO is talked about but we -- -- -- And dad's probably because -- is owned by VW which also owns. Works with Porsche yeah that's -- -- that relationship is exactly the mutual ownership I think easily -- Yet and there's Audi in there as well and and so they got that platform with that Diana and the a period the Q seven and and and the -- when -- snoring in the -- again yes the there's lot of successful suvs -- -- -- and and Porsche has been so happy with key and because it 50% others say season. I it's huge so -- -- is -- like well you know we'd sell maybe a couple dozen of our cars. On a good month and so -- Canada and a policy -- an aggressive attitude to expand there -- linemen and them. I guess -- CEOs saying that hey you know don't don't know definitely traditional ocean should complain about a student and -- visas. Everybody else do yes. -- -- -- -- -- -- The the malls and how He -- X you news doesn't move our sponsors immunity is -- to see that vehicle yeah I don't think they can just use one other current platforms and throw -- body on a new ad -- -- -- -- even need to read the collision meaning it is -- -- of cars. -- as vehicles are inherited like -- level the route for. Yeah what it's interesting though because for me I don't think of Bentley I know that there you know part of the VW group. But you don't see. Or at least if they do technology and platform sharing it's not as obvious as VW Audi. Or you know in and of for a lot of other auto makers where you can kind of see that oh this is -- started its life of the Emory and now it's Alexis. Admittedly does any platform sharing their vehicles and -- looking unlike anything else in -- of -- line. Does that the electronics are the nav system edition is -- -- number yeah I can see that it's usually just -- yet but you know from the outside. -- it's. India is I don't really see Bentley is going. Hours get a table on and what would be flying you know be on the front that it call today that out if they do get into this -- -- -- -- do something. Remarkably different from the rest of -- group. -- -- just may also develop their own engines. Yeah I mean the -- and is there a way different than anything in the VW lineup which is -- and you compare a Rolls -- to BMW. Which. You know -- -- this is of their own -- they really start with you know seven series B twelve yet. And yet build up their own you know some of their own equipment on that but engineers. Basically from a promote some answers -- So yeah I mean in -- of course you know this could be Bentley. You know they really cheap out that they could take the engine from you know Audi Q seven and then put a little bit of their own -- on it. Any interest in seeing you know what direct in the actually going to be doing -- -- -- seems. A little bit lost to me a couple weeks we have started they were developing injury in rear seat entertainment system -- as audio via. And to our in the story and I got a call from -- and there's no we're not -- -- -- my audio but the figure if we are -- You at least -- -- -- that electronics are in there and there -- a little -- and He isn't -- out of -- concern there were working on a -- a week. Assuming they're putting them in their vehicles somebody with a Bentley email address that work on this at a live audio left at scam and they. -- Another story here about thinking about breaking -- is that -- We can -- -- real while ago about these sort of driver assistance technologies being on the rise and we're gonna start seeing them in more and more cars. And most of them you know for example things like collision prevention system that you would go forward facing radar -- laser ray or something. To measure distance between you in the -- and view and apply the -- Internet and attention. We've got a story here on -- pre blog which is basically talking about I need. Researchers at the Berlin Institute of Technology. Who are actually wiring cars. Systems into people -- -- so what they've done they've set up simulator they originally picnic electrodes to the the scalps. Of group of drivers and they basically had and drive around simulator. And recorded what part the brain. -- active when you attitude to a emergency stop procedure and so what they've done they've. Map those areas of the brain in their developing a system that will. -- those areas of the brain and when you're driving along -- in an emergency out to two weeks and from the time you realize you need to start -- they can already start pre applying -- rate in the vehicle where you're what do you think it's over there and it seems. -- -- in thirty milliseconds. Off of the response time in getting your foot properly yes and onto the -- and it saves them out of Carly. -- stopping distances to YouTube now that's pretty substantial now. Yes it's an interesting technology. You can't yet drive the car with your brain in -- they're also fail safes built in. -- -- -- -- -- Believe this will also working can in. Conjunction with the fort facing radars early theories -- that. You know today and in ball's apartment situations part slamming to -- stop -- is. A loud noise you know -- under threat some -- -- -- and -- But it's an interesting sort of use of the mind reading technology. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- You -- -- -- -- rakes in. Not even anywhere near the supermarket either says total -- and certainly some stop. -- -- -- Florida even developing the stuff this type of technology for disabled people for example and that a controlled prosthetics and things like that. So and it seems like it's advancing pretty well from. You know some demos I saw -- 120 years -- I -- was really moving along yeah and makes you think. He maybe you know on the future yet a steering wheels brake pedals -- lots of one -- that. And at its spine at that people -- already lamenting the slow disappearance of the clutch pedal. After that market. That'll be the terrorist I don't I'm the gonna grab my car through thought alone because -- -- but didn't. The other side of this -- is you know the whole reason that a lot of -- collision detection systems. Are necessary because people are doing everything except. Paying attention to -- in -- -- of them. And so that's why you need for -- -- to wash the car in front of you because you're not looking at the -- criteria. Is that people who need the systems there. Yelling -- acute in the back seat -- Trying to pick up by Christina but they drop something and if nothing is gonna help them and I'll say they're not looking ahead. -- -- -- It is not gonna words is aimed at that swearing in of before peace and read our leader. Or whatever technology they use is. And still continue to be useful yet because in this situation the weak link in the brain to Begin -- -- They said dad. And little brother now it's -- they they tried to apply this to mind controlled by. Oh wait there's that -- -- It was announced a couple of reflect. That -- -- shift -- -- that -- -- When you wouldn't go over well here in San Francisco that shifting gears. So. At that I'm bringing in I mean did -- -- dual clutch transmissions did you like lightning that's a button but if you just. Turn that into just thinking about I need to go to second you know they're -- second. -- second -- that can be so fast. Changing gears like lightning. -- abatement yet again you know the brain is. And in Greenville -- different. -- -- -- and really work the same ways of is bound to be somebody with. One key brain news and you know and they think they're the second -- think they're going in reverse Napster except that they can got answers from music and if there's not like. In USB connection in the back your all the teams play in and indeed -- time the Apple will -- to -- -- is happening here. When He does Johnny -- -- ports and -- -- -- It. Let's go out on the road this week the -- of some of -- special double -- this week because that we had a lot of drive and -- wanna get cars in Sonoma. -- and I and I got out and Nia. Well -- that with a Porsche 9/11 and follow but the BMW one and -- And go to sixty and I'm very short amount of time. It's a good news that of course is more important seconds to extinguish the goal of four point four with the six billion I think they might even save four point two isn't it. Seven speed automated manual or in Mountain -- -- it. Yeah that's the -- control this is that we just have the six speed manual which is a really nice. Shifting manual and -- -- -- the gag here is just really easily. And analyze kind of precision feels -- going to negate what the stars really about just what amazing handling. -- Edwards took their run earlier in the week that and you. We're quite impressed with the performance handling and Amir came back and realize we have really been -- -- -- that fantastic in normal and in smart engine. -- really hard is that corners and this is an undulating road and it just pulling its tires down on the -- about. Any real problem -- generations of the 9/11 ago I would not have -- -- even get will be in the car and those kind arrows. You'd expect -- and to be doing some. -- questionable things hooked -- cars -- really really planet. It's not even really about flying around the obsolete old Ozzie outlined its not bottoming. It's just. Suspended very very well -- -- fantastic specimen that was what you want them good performance developed tires and conduct the -- And -- keep it running and you can -- I would just really is important oriented cars -- nor -- members of the 9/11. Is that -- an industrial electronic packaged and we've got -- navigation system. As hard drive bays and a really nice it's really nice sounding they're urging speaker Bose audio system I did notice that we are playing the radio coming -- -- -- and -- even HD radio to tolerate. Lives -- in beautiful. Yeah I -- users -- not all of us -- He doesn't have a Bluetooth streaming audio and let us. San Antonio a little bit different -- them and yeah yeah. Well time listeners of the issue probably -- -- he's been on the number of times I listen to -- -- atomic yeah out of atomic time. And unionized down ski you missed -- missed -- -- A ports deal that is being that -- And everybody hated that color I liked it -- Big Ten regular -- hasn't thought speed yellow and I know Brian Cooley in his that. -- on the sparrow is gonna like to make our except for the color and there it's like He hit me you can get an amber Allen if you want the dignity in billion -- and brown. And edited -- -- -- as it does stand out a little maybe two months. It'll attract intense yet. But an amazing performing car though it com. It just. Well even before. It's the -- for -- take this car out to with the with my two actually when upon ask Alan Grant which is on the good roads around here and I dot with a fairly stripped down vehicle that it didn't have. You know. Any dynamic suspension or anything like that they're really just gotta take it out stock everything just running. -- -- like it isn't for startup key. To -- -- -- hard corners and it just performed beautifully or cyclist and also neatly so nicely -- you can rotate around the corners and feel so light. But then a little later as half so the buttons along the bottom that put the -- -- sport mode but the suspension and sport mode put the exhausting sport mode. You have yet but like -- daddy don't even realize are not in sport yet a regular -- is more hardcore need to make it an even better. Yet He was that. Yeah I really just a stunning performer of course in a 104000. Base US. Base you out at a -- slots in just below in a for the naturally asp rated nine elevens in spots and just below the I really the top of the line and just below the GT three. When one of -- -- higher performing ones I -- the M. The persona while the DTS or maybe the first time the -- yes. Name user you know models and applied to the nine elevenths -- which have Brinkley pointed out in his -- on this there's the 23 different 9/11 you can get. -- -- -- It's crazy yeah and it -- the interesting thing for me also is if you noted the 9/11 but it's also the ninth something else. That unit is the different. Generations of -- analysts are yet at nine -- with this one is exactly a portion of the Xeon -- would know the Clinton designation nothing. -- -- something adamant that -- And this card the GTS alone you can actually we had the hard top. Version with rear wheel drive you can also get it. With four wheel drive you can get it was like tab really top or both windows. If you want the most expensive and easily to target. I think they do. I like the -- the interest being configuration and the like that's a -- -- is take all the seventies thing yet is definitely at. I'm will take a look at the atom. MW one M two is another of the high powered cars that we had in recently and and you actually -- the -- the scientists. At. It's just -- this is true in car usually command three and five. And X five M. Of the one is. I guess -- the latest in the vehicles to where the -- bad. You know calling it one Amazon does -- an M one is a symbolic amending the whole problem -- the star. In that data I enjoyed -- damn -- -- dealing with about 335. Horsepower -- Windsor -- Inline six. Dad it's the same engine that day in day out large data. The evidence that -- 130 by mom and dad and a 530. And even original -- that are environmentally. That's about I think -- tired just you close to the 135 in game performance you get a couple of extra things that I -- model. This -- -- -- thirty extra horsepower or. You get -- the M dynamic -- actually control. The of the -- button on the steering -- when she read maps via a problem for no more aggressive performance. And doubt there's a wider track you know slightly -- wheels and I'm sure husbands and it's just end up a bit of the matter is also more aggressive. And aerodynamics engine that you won't really be mistaking this producers and around the -- one series. We should mention a this time we have it isn't that a lot -- capital electronics and the options button. As we just really have the simple radio we have an iPod look and Bluetooth phone system. And that's basically -- Then again the options to a minimum on this card and I think it still runs about 55000. Dollars. You can't get a navigation system which would -- -- pop up screen in the -- dashboard and a lot of that really get Debian -- cabin tech that's available. -- any mention 55000 dollars an indictment is -- a little bit less expensive. And it actually is -- you made early -- -- analogy. You know the one series and is a lot like. JCW anywhere. So that is -- beat the new BMW one M two the first time they put via M -- -- -- and of of the ones series. Slept -- -- on everything. And edited the X five -- and six and XM which is that's -- -- and -- -- -- -- -- I'm done an image means nothing to me and doesn't visit kind of amazing that cars and that I think that really highlights the difference that it expire them and execs and which are. It's -- -- are different. -- bodies. -- useful when you put anything into. But the the other technology in next five -- the next exam is so extreme because they made that big. SUV like vehicle stay on the road and perform like a sports car and so they are a ton of stuff and of that and the -- though the one M two they don't. It's a standard suspension well I mean it's a -- and suspension but it's not it's not a dynamic suspension like there is in the other -- -- You know you can't even get they don't even -- the double clutch transmission in the -- you can only at the six speed manual but you can get the double clutch transmission in the 135. Great well I -- here's the thing. About double those transmissions and in batches and BMW's. -- people who BMWs and driving period they don't want to DCT. You know like if -- it's and the one of the things where it's what you see a guy. With an inquiry and -- -- so much after you go closer and then today. The one -- for that. That person who who's who's always going. I don't like it's in new adaptive -- like I just want to intimate -- well if I performance drive on my way to -- for our. That is it that that if cars sports trip now -- -- you what you want but. They both the with and -- degree that you play it on -- money for that. Although much has a little bit wrong on the -- the the price point on that are. It's actually -- base level. The base level one and -- is up 46000. -- and then -- tourism options and I mean our car was optioned up with just the very basics of -- -- -- 50000. But that's only seven grand more than they -- 35. -- So yeah I mean. It's not a huge price of a huge price difference. And in the old man in the U commands in the old managed knowingly is a -- you really -- the 135. Any faster on a public route -- you could the one. Traveling. And I within most drivers -- Skill levels and legal and apparently no legal abilities. It is this a questionable upgrade it immediately if a lot of money -- -- -- would allow people wouldn't think of a ton of extra benefit. Although what I saw in it is that to and I'm not sure it's been a while some women and -- 135. I've spent to. When I didn't have the -- and dynamic traction control mode on in this one and -- And I was taking corners I was just getting bogged down because it go into a corner in the -- traction control and start flashing like crazy and you know I'm gonna -- at the apex of the corner and trying to power out but I would have no power because in -- -- -- -- you can't do this we're trying to stay on the road here. And that simulate pushed the Canada MD MDM a -- and dynamic mode. It let me get away with a lot more stuff. And itself up perfectly safe to do you like was gonna spend now or anything like that Tom and so my thinking is you know the 135 -- stuck with that. That really overactive traction control and it's really gonna hamper a lot of what you could potentially do with the car -- that would make the out for me would make the -- and. -- just turn off. Well that's -- -- just use on the etc. I used to view back in the days of the few parameters and rule. And his call the data -- that is dead in their right yet Canada maybe. And discourage Apple won't -- another prominent -- to -- -- I felt it was a little too civilized in the suspension He suspension puzzle. I mean it was -- comfortable car which is really nice especially after having driven the the Porsche Carrera 9/11 and the GTR which we had in the previous week. Which both of those cars just round your back in that at the yard beloved teacher at a comfort measures that the network is still below and Jerry yes. The act and dad yet -- and I was actually really pleasure to drive because. In a governor on the -- -- discourage some rough roads it's like amounts champion -- -- like. Good quality car -- and data. But I think for the one -- to the suspension should be to spear down tighter it shouldn't be yet. I'm not -- it's -- have a good ride. Yeah well why is it's it's a tricky. You know when you're when you're not -- adaptive it if it gets tricky when it. You know how do we meet the suspension funded drive. Handle it could be in that exposed to but then it also still -- -- feel like. You know you don't have you know. Middle bush -- Is still has the feel like a car that in at least worth. A fraction equipment cart cost in -- Yet dealer to get that analyst Sheri element to it each other sometimes I think the do you sort of baby panda or a little -- -- -- there. Enough to the softer drivers and under the people that aren't really gonna drive the car not gonna get -- days or anything like that they're gonna. Perceived the comfortable right I think this -- -- goes a little more towards that then. Now I and I really think that suspension should be screwed down -- and it feels spongy times. I don't think it felt any lengths when -- in day and -- that we hadn't recently. It. Built a little you know not really. Bleeding edge you know hard -- either it still comfortable car and -- sport mode. Even with all these dynamic mode buttons pushed and then having an influence -- it definitely handled well but I mean I think if you win over -- with sport mode you. You wouldn't feel like you had -- -- -- Yet units I think overall. Maybe they just have done a really good job balancing act. Really rough suspension in a really -- of firm suspension without being rough. I edit it and it may just be like a case where -- just engineers themselves you know. Over engineers in -- -- -- -- people expect -- -- -- or off and so when they don't feel rough they. Hit -- yet -- makes you think coming up as -- And you know I'd choose to retire and lot of corners and and donor on that drive they're they're simply. We've -- some pretty good fast starts out that -- and I know our initial launch on that are it was like. It just -- kept on coming. Yeah I think we may have the video. Came out she -- -- video started just after that initial Orion and that'd probably for the best. Because this is -- -- like it was just need. Bouncing my head of Nokia headrest -- with -- and it actually shouted out. Death two -- are of course -- out. And there in the electronics and we had and it to you and I found out in authors to restrain and haven't in this car but there you can -- -- the MB MW apps. For this car and this is very similar that's really the same technology is the mini yet connected. System which we we drove but I recently in the mini which will come -- a -- later show. But the so it does have the Twitter in the FaceBook integration in -- Google search and all you. But of course yet at the navigation system 2000 dollar navigation system to get into effect at the at many apps are the in the BMW. So and what to expect any option to implement -- -- -- I get. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Promises. -- violently raped children at -- net. The start taken off the boxes.
