Cadillac goes all-in on electric with the 2023 Lyriq
Cars
Speaker 1: Well, look at what I got here. It's the 20, 23 Cadillac lyric. And the absolute first thing I have to show you is this super cool, welcome lighting signature.
Speaker 1: I mean, right. Like that's really cool. Now this is Cadillac's first all electric vehicle and it's on its way to producing just electric vehicles by the year at 2030, [00:00:30] that's a super tall order, but I have to say the Cadillac lyric is a really good starting point using a single electric motor. The lyric throws 340 horsepower and 325 pounds feet of torque to the rear wheels as God intended. However, you will be able to get an all-wheel drive version later on a 100 kilowat hour battery can store enough electrons for about 300 miles of range. And y'all that beats the hands off of the Audi e-tron that only has 222 miles of range, but it's about par for the course of the rest of the luxury EV field, [00:01:00] like the Tesla model wide and the upcoming BMW IX. As for charging, if you can find a 190 kilowat public charging station, you can get 76 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Speaker 1: Now, every lyric will have the 19.2 kilowat onboard charger, and that should be able to get you 52 miles of range in an hour when you're charging at home, but you have to have a 100 a harder and an electrical panel that can support a hundred amps. Now, if all of this sounds just peachy to you, well, I think that the design of the lyric [00:01:30] is just gonna be icing on the cake. I mean, in addition to that really cool, welcome lighting signature. I really love the hatchback roof line and the sequential taillights that wrap around all the way through this silhouette. We've got some really large 20 or 22 inch that are pushed all the way to the outside. So I've got a really long 10 foot wheel base and an overall length of about 16 and a half feet, but it's still pretty low at just about five feet off the ground.
Speaker 1: But I mean fun, you guys, we have to look at the interior, right? Because it's just like this giant curve screen, 33 inches of diagonal [00:02:00] screen space. I love it. I've got some really cool laser cut design motifs in the door. And overall it's just a really spacious place to be. My only quibble with the design is that I can get it in two colors on the outside, black and gray and wait for it. Two colors on the inside, gray and black. Now I haven't had a chance to drive the lyric, but Cadillac says that it is capable of one pedal driving. So lift your foot a throttle. You've got some region breaking going in and helping to fill up that battery. And of course the hands off, but eyes [00:02:30] up Cadillac, super crews will also be available, but perhaps the most surprising thing about the 2023 Cadillac lyric is the price. This guy starts at just under $60,000. And that includes destination. And that really undercuts the rest of the all electric luxury SUV market. You can reserve yourself your very own Cadillac lyric in September of this year. And we start seeing them on the roads early summer of 2022.
