Philips Fidelio HTL9100 Sound Bar detaches for surround sound

Hello, I'm Luke Westaway for CNET. We are here at CES 2013 taking a look at the Philips Fidelio HTL9100 Sound Bar. So this may look like an ordinary sound bar but it has a secret weapon, this bits at the side disconnects forming two separate wireless speakers that you can positioned behind your sofa, turning your ordinary sound bar setup into a wireless surround system. As if that's not good enough you'll also get this wireless subwoofer for some extra bassy punch. Philips tells me that this is connecting over a technology that's similar to Bluetooth but not Bluetooth, so crucially if you are doing something else over Bluetooth like using a wireless keyboard, you shouldn't get any interference, which is good news. So once, you've detach these speakers, the sound bar will automatically change to surround sound mode, so there's very little that you have to do. They are battery powered, they're gonna take 4 hours to reach full charge and once it got much juices they can handle, you get 10 hours out to them. So battery life is a limiting factor but 10 hours is quite a long time to be watching TV, I don't really think you're gonna need much more time than that. The speakers itself pumps out a 120watts of noise and something else is very cool is that if you move the speaker into a different orientation, the drivers will slide mechanically on the inside, so that you don't lose sound quality.
