>> I'm Nicole Lea, Associate Editor for CNET.com, and this is a First Look at the Cricket Text Mate from regional carrier, Cricket Communications. As you can see here, it's a very cute, square-looking, chubby little phone here with a full QWERTY keyboard for text messaging. It has a 2.2-inch display on the front here, and there's a strip of shortcut widgets on the left side here. When a widget is selected, a window will pop up on the right here, showing the widget's properties. Underneath the display is the navigation array. When you slide the phone up, you get a very nice and roomy QWERTY keyboard here, which is great for messaging. We found texting on it really easy because of the raised keys, although we didn't like the raised bar in the middle here. There's also a dedicated messaging key, a caps lock key, and a symbol key. Features of the Cricket Text Mate are few, but you do get the typical text and multimedia messaging. You also get a web browser on here. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, a basic music player as well as stereo Bluetooth. The Cricket Text Mate is $159.99 retail without a contract. You can get it from Cricket for $139.99 with an online discount. I'm Nicole Lea, and this has been the First Look at the Cricket Text Mate.
