Apple Announces Its Next Event, Fitbit Recalls Ionic Smartwatches
Speaker 1: This is Cena and here are the stories that matter right now. Apple officially set the date for its next event. Sending out invites for a presentation beginning at 10:00 AM. Pacific time on Tuesday, March 8th, the company is expected to introduce a new iPhone S se with a bigger screen upgraded iPads with faster and possibly even upgraded IMAX. The invitation shows a rainbow apple logo with a tagline reading peak performance. The event will [00:00:30] be online only and live streamed on Apple's website. Fitbit issued a nationwide recall of its ionic smart watch following complaints of the lithium battery overheating and causing injuries, including several reports of second or third degree burns. The Google owned wearables maker says the recall does not affect any other Fitbit smart watches or trackers. Any owner contacting Fitbit to return their ionic will receive a $299 refund as well as a discount code for select Fitbit [00:01:00] devices. Finally, Ford announced it will separate the EV and internal combustion engine sides of its business as part of what it calls its Ford plus plan. The Ford model E division will focus on both electric vehicles and software and connected car tech. While the Ford blue division will retain its focus on building internal combustion vehicles.
